ngl i've kinda started to think this as well lately
for some reason the films still work but i always think more about doyle's camera work and images more than whatever wong has written. he's just so much more interesting to me
yeah wong was controlling but doyle still had a way of imposing his style on the film.
i think this list is really old, maybe that's why there's an absence in newer foreign films
Awesome list
The disrespect in this thread just shows the sad decline of ktt. Once a great section now dominated by MCU loving reprobates...

0 Korean, Chinese, Hong Kong, or Taiwanese films. Interesting.
Yes very interesting coming from such a diverse gentleman

That's because you're simplifying it to what the camera was doing when it's really a culmination of every piece of the film that makes the shots work. Music, acting, costumes, location, script, etc all come together. WKW's barebones/freestyle script style is a perfect fit for Doyle's idiosyncrasies and vice versa. Doyle himself has said so in interviews. He credits a lot of what people attribute to his style in those WKW films to basically accidents that WKW and he were willing to roll with. Take the decision to use so many black and white scenes in Happy Together. According to Doyle, that all started as a complete accident.
WKW is like Ye and Doyle is like the several beatmakers that came in during MBDTF.
There's a reason nothing Doyle has done without WKW matches that style.
