Not discrediting A&R’s and execs, but on some occasions, I feel like (real) fans have more insights as to what an artist’s strengths and weaknesses are and what would make a good project.

Even though KTT doesn’t represent the entire internet, I honesty think the knowledge that this platform has a whole is more beneficial than AR’s who don’t really tap in like we do.

You’re really telling me we couldn’t have Wayne at least 2-3 more classics by now? Or even Drake an undeniable classic?

I feel like at lot of the people they (not just Drake and Wayne, but a lot of artists) have around them aren’t really qualified to “produce” projects. They’re too close to it.

I just think that fans need more of a direct impact on the product that WE are consuming.

How we do that? I don’t know. But the ideas and passion I see on here would only benefit the artist.

    Just a follow up.

    We stan our favorite artists.

We know their inflections, their style changes, things that the artists might not even know about themselves.

It’s just insane that fan feedback isn’t the direct source.

Notice how you didn’t look out for the interests of the artists but rather your own

That’s why would never be an a&r

If anything its opposite and fans need less impact. Look what happened to Uzi and almost happened to carti after WLR

uzi especially his own community ruined him to the point he has no confidence in what he‘s gonna put out

I have confidence in my taste and if I had a budget I’d go crazy in helping an artist create a classic

I’d rather an artist just do what feels right to themselves, isn’t that what got them their in the first place for the most part?

The funny thing is some of these artists are on these forums. Just listened to the new Directors Cut of Scaring The Hoes and its always jarring to hear the "you 40 and still posting on KTT" bar

What do A&Rs even do nowadays? Where are they spending their time and money? Because new gen musicians are not developing fast enough, it's taking them 5 or 6 years to reach the level of confidence and creativity previous gens would reach on their sophomore album.

the only difference is a&rs are experts in finding popular artists, they focus on making money, fans dont necessarily prioritize money

what’s a modern example of an elite EP, doesn’t even seem like a thing now a days, either the artist themself has the sensibilities & thoughtfulness to construct an album experience or they don’t
