Jen, who plays Devon, said they filmed Devon in the car park waiting to pick Gemma up, it just didn't end up in the episode, but she thinks Gemma did make it to Devon.

that's kind of what i envisioned. Mark S did the necessary part of his job (freeing Gemma), he just didn't wanna risk that moment being his last time existing. Wasn't sure if Gemma would go to them or just hide solo for a bit tho

if he leaves the outie never goes back to work, but now he may have the option to flip the power imbalance with his outie

it goes both ways for sure.

some people are clearly being deliberately obtuse in regards to certain things, or they are just straight up not paying attention to certain things, not remembering them properly, etc.

which prompts someone else who DOES notice these things to dismiss the person as if they arent viewing the show "the right way"

i love this show, its easily in my top shows of all time already, but im not going to sit in here and act like theres no issues with the show or that someone who doesnt enjoy it as much as me isnt watching it "correctly."

    Damn

True, but one example is something like the Milchek arc. The seeds were planted the entire season to show his resentment building up towards Lumon, then in this finale he’s back to body slamming a vending machine to try and stop the Innies from revolting.

Also, some things just felt like they came out of nowhere. For instance, I truly don’t believe the Innie Mark and Helly relationship was built up enough to justify the decision Innie Mark made at the end. They barely even communicated this entire season outside of the s***scene.

The entire premise of this show seems to be the Severed workers fighting to free themselves from Lumon… and now all of a sudden the outline for Season 3 appears to be the Innies wanting to permanently stay on the Severed floor? Feels like the entire show just got flipped on its head and there was never really any legwork done to get to this place

Kinda confused at some of the connections youre making. How does growing discontent with Lumon's execs equate to not wanting to be locked in a bathroom by subordinates? Milchick loves his job clearly, and Cold Habor is a priority, he just wants respect. If they pulled the Milchick flip now there'd be another crowd (rightfully imo) saying it was far too early. All we got so far was microaggressions

I'd also push back against there notion of a definitive premise to the show. If innies "free themselves from Lumon," they die. S2 was realizing Lumon isn't their top oppressor, their outies are. Lumon gave them life and manipulate them but so do outies. S2 built that flip up with Helena/Helly, Mark S realizing his outie didn't care about him, and Dylan's arc with his outies wife. They have the same instinctual self-interest outies have. To them, freedom is running away from instructions, not sacrificing for your outie

Also, having s***was a massive deal considering innies don't ever do that. They're not complex people. These relationships are why they want to exist, just look at Irv when Burt died and Dylan after the proposal

Lumon is a weakass mom and pop business with no security whatsoever
they never even replaced the lone security guard

Itd gonna be the innies running the severed floor with the elevator barricaded

They LL prolly make milchick the janitor

scene with Gemma was basically a Cold Harbor test in itself. Mark S saw Gemma (not Casey) for the first time and turned around to be with Helly. I think they just find a way to gain the upper hand over outies. Jame sees Kier in Helly R and i wouldn't be shocked if she's propped as an heir. They def have to leave at some point

yeah I also thought something is fishy with Helly R but.. if this was all intended then what was the goat sacrifice for? why did that f\*\*\*er Drummond died then? (not saying I'm not glad but..)

i think its just for religious-like ritualistic sacrifice and ensuring obedience of the herders. They have those herders (who are protective) raise them like kids, then voluntarily sacrifice for Kier. Seems like Lorne has actually had to pull the trigger herself several times but when Drummond got distracted by Mark, Lorne took advantage and Mark accidentally killed him when transitioning.

Episode was directed so much better than the preceding episodes

They should have had Ben Stiller do all of it instead of the faux artsy cinematographer-turned-director-overnight

yeah a HUGE part of this season was going to lengths to show that innies are their own people with their own emotions, even if their 'lives' lack the same breadth as their outies. they even lampshaded this by showing outie mark almost chastise innie mark for thinking him and helly could ever compare to his relationship with his wife.

personally think ep 9 was sort of a misstep or tonally off but i think in eps 1 - 7 the second season was very well paced and hit a good balance between teasing stuff out and being brisk. the helly r / innie mark relationship is a good example of that (although obviously the ground work was mostly done in s1 too)
