Funny enough I didn’t see any mention of him at all in that review 😭
Collider review said Shazam/ Zachary Levi is the worst part of the film
Hopefully a recast in the future

So to preface my thoughts I will say I had a really s***ty day at work so that may have influenced what I thought about the movie a little.
Man Fury of the Gods was a great time. It’s not as good as the first, but it retains most of what I love about the first movie. The charm, the family dynamic, the fun, all of it is there. I think the cast did really well overall with special highlights of the film being Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Grace Curry, Djimon Hounsou, and Asher Angel (when he was there). Some character pairings in this film were really entertaining and not what I expected.
Levi continues to be a good Shazam, but I think they had him in this a little too much. The appeal of Shazam is the kid trying to be the adult hero, but when the hero acts more childish than the kid at times, it doesn’t work all the time. I like Levi in the role, I just think he turned it up a little too much. Also, there is barely any Billy in this and that didn’t work much for me. There is one other thing I wasn’t so big on but that is a spoiler.
The villain plot was fine. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu seemed like they were having fun in their roles. It made sense for this side of the DC Universe and it ties in with other aspects of it well. I think it was smart of them to make original villains that still work within the universe.
The action is pumped up to another level and done well, especially the fight with the dragon. Certain things felt like they were influenced by BvS. I really liked how Anthea’s powers were displayed in this film, they were visually really cool.
In the end, Fury of the Gods was really entertaining. While it does not reach the bar set by the original, this film itself is a fun time. It was a great pick me up after the day I had and I would go see this again. I want to support this film because I want to support David and I hope that he does something really cool and original next. Even though this seems DOA box office wise, I would love to see these characters again played by these actors. And please, give us some more Billy Batson.
7.5/10
PS (with spoilers): I feel like the Wonder Woman cameo kind of weakened a great moment in the film just to pay off a joke. It was great to see Gal, but where it happens brought a touching moment into a seemingly semi forced cameo. Not mad at it, but I would’ve put it somewhere else in the movie. Also, I liked both post credit scenes. The first one using Economos and Harcourt from Peacemaker and continues a thread from Black Adam surprisingly. The second one is a funny call back to the original’s post credit scene.
why they act like people really care bout peacemaker cast like that tho they really bout to be in every movie now
The show was really popular. It was the top viewed show when it was airing, even above the Star Wars Boba Fett show
Why yes, this is the primary reason I’m going to Shazam 2

ok peter safran
It was alright, nothing awful but nothing great either. Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zelger and Djimon Hounsou were the standouts, everyone else was just alright while Levi was slightly annoying. Few cheesy moments, but thankfully most of the jokes landed. I enjoyed it more then Ant-Man
