y’all let this flop
I wouldn't say that
It only released on 700 screens so the per screen average is $5,117
For comparison, this is higher than every big wide release this weekend except for Equalizer 3
Also being that the budget is only 11M and it's expanding to 1200 screens next weekend, Bottoms should make its budget back
this was really fun will prolly rewatch w the homies
also had no idea this movie takes place in like an alternate universe or whatever
made the movie more fun imo

universe lore
this clearly doesn’t take place in the real world/not based in reality and is like an alt version of a modern day american high school town.
maybe i’m not using the right term but even this review mentions it

like a teen movie like superbad clearly takes place in the real world (besides like the cops lol) vs something like this where it’s highly fictionalized

They did this in Glee too
Cheerleaders always wearing their uniforms
That show existed in its own vacuum but mainly because it was just dumb

yea like the fact that the school is like 50 total kids and we see 3 school employees the whole time
I wished they leaned a bit more into it though
This was like horrifically trash. Like, whoa. Me and my girl looked at each other 5 mins in like what the f*** were they thinking
ayo fw the asian s***

“edging on absurdity but still grounded in reality” is a better way to describe this movie im not a writer man lol
Took abit to get off the ground for me but once it started to lean more into the silliness it won me over completely, I love comedies that aren’t complete parodies but wild s*** just goes on that would never happen irl
Marshawn Lynch was the highlight, every piece of dialogue he had cracked me up.
The way they let every primary to tertiary character get some great lines off
I feel like this (mostly) did everything Barbie was trying to do in a more relaxed and absurd way, on a lower budget, in a "real world", and in less time. Excellent comedy, we need more of these
