This is tonally all over the place. Not loving this, and 30 mins to go.

This third act is f***ing awful dog wtf

Never even considered this movie could be bad

It’s a mixture of comedy with some serious commentary and plot stuff on the side. It’s not meant to be totally serious or non serious

Pretty good movie honestly. I wish more stuff like this existed. The last couple of scenes were like something out of the Northman. Totally pulled that out of left field. But I screenshotted a lot of my fav jokes as well. And the scene w the guy in the cage and all the scenes w the black teacher were also genius. One of my favs that came out so far this year.

The pacing is good so I'll give the movie that, and when it's silly and out there, it's alright, but the comedy part was just DOA especially at the start, s*** was all the way painful. Then they capped it off with a Deez nutz joke

Yeah I know. I just don't think the movie pulled it off well imo but I get the absurdist vibe they were going for. Didn't work.

I found the premise funny but it isn't in sync with the characters etc./what they want out of it. Structure is typical of a heterosexual high school romance but the film wants to do something progressive at the same time through the characters. But they are also kinda cruel and selfish so not sure if it goes anywhere with its original intentions. In the end it's all like chin up, t*** out, and watch for the shoe type fun like toni storm said

Also did they just drop the storyline for what's her name the other main character the white one? She wanted to get laid, then that didn't happen, but I thought that *was* the goal? Or did that change once they got busted? Idk, that whole third act was a mess to me

Yeah unsure what happened there. There was no "silly me going after a straight girl" reflection moment. We can say it's bizarre but most likely just poor writing. She probably was happy in the end assuming her "side-kick" role (the two have a bit about that during one of the lockers scene), helping her friend get that dream girl through the climax scene. But the film doesnt underscore that

I think implied she now likes the third girl that helped start the club the one she made out with. Later when they mentioned they made out she was saying I’m willing to do it again if anyone wants to see

But really I felt like her character was supposed to be a selfish unredeemable character like Larry David in curb or Always Sunny cast

I liked the movie but didn’t look for messages in it. Just went along for the ride and accepted whatever bizarre world they threw us in. It was fun

This feels like a show on MTV from 12 years ago that nobody knows exists

Realizing Rachel peaked in shiva baby, bodies wuz weak as f*** once they started arguing thinking they really did sum

The third act made the movie for me by committing to the absurdity
Second act got too bogged down in formula
