The reason I said politically incoherent is everything I read said his friends never considered him a political person, he was big on the second amendment, and had a trans partner. I didn't see anything about his family saying he became more left wing (not saying it's not there, just saying I haven't seen it)

If his family really did say that, then that's probably pretty good evidence that he was.
