You absolutely should. Twitter is (and I’m not exaggerating or being hyperbolic) the worst thing to happen to young people in the last decade. It is a f***ing cesspool. It’s a cancer just like you said. It’s having a drastically negative effect on the world that heavily outweighs some of the positive activism and awareness that is spread on there

Tbh. Once I unfollowed damn near everyone from high school, I just started started seeing a bunch of funny vids, news, and random s***. If someone has annoying opinions they get the swift mute/unfollow

Instagram is shallow or narcissistic or creating unrealistic standards for people or whatever else you wanna say but twitter is literally solely for spewing off thoughts and hot takes when 90% of the people in this world should shut the f*** up. Most people you meet in life especially the ones who tweet like what they have to say is valuable/smart are the least educated most basic level thinkers on this planet and yet twitter lets everyone feel like they’re shouting from a mountain top down on to their kingdom. Twitter is also where cancel culture lives.

Fair point, my only problem with ig that even if you don't follow influencers you get exposed via stories, explorer page. It's easier to control what you are exposed to on twitter.

I personally like twitter cause I can see thought process/interact with my fav writers, businessmans, diplomats. I can't do that in real life.

But from a social media standpoint (to communicate with your peers) you are absolutely right, twitter is just unnecessary drama of people acting smart, gossip about some celebs life, conspiracy theories. It's scary many people form their opinions based on the top tweets twitter algorithm shows.

Valid. Your thing w the Instagram explore page is how I feel about twitter explore page. With ig I kinda just accept that what I’m seeing is just the phony ig world and it’s harmless but when I go to twitter explore page and see what’s trending and look at the convos and some of the mental s*** ppl are saying and it has 100k retweets I honest to god wonder if I even wanna live anymore if this is the world

Twitter not having stories and random tweet ads is a plus for me. I use list option on twitter so i don't even see what content someone likes.
Top tweets, famous twitter accounts mostly cancer indeed. Funny thing is i saw many top tweets saying corona is just a flu (got 50k+ rts) but same people got top tweets again few weeks later for calling out government for doing bad job and how they personnally were safe all along
