I’ve always wanted to get really into producing but never really had the money to buy a laptop of my own . Lately I’ve been thinking of so many drum patterns and dreaming chord progressions with me singing over them that I can’t accomplish with the instruments I use normally n don’t want these beautiful ideas go to waste

I’m just saying f*** it and doing installment plans on what I can find but I need recommendations from people who normally produce on a laptop

I personally produce on a mac pro, but I wish I'd gone with a macbook pro instead simply for the fact that I can't produce on the go with a desktop unless I straight up bring a monitor with me. I recommend a laptop for production

I'd recommend splurging a bit more for the M1 version ngl

will hold up way better in the future and will give u a big bump both performance and battery wise

just make sure the apps you want to use are compatible with apple silicon (but most are in some way by this point)

one final thing to consider is I think it only supports one external monitor, idk if that would be an issue with you

but ya M1 way better value at this point, would also look at M1 Mac mini's if the laptop form factor isn't crucial

also if you don't have money to buy Logic Pro right this second they have a 90 day trial, once it expires you can just run this command on terminal and it should give u another 90 days

mv -v ~/Library/Application\ Support/.lpxuserdata ~/.Trash

I haven't tested it too recently but it should still work

Get the base m1 pro. M1 air is great but ur gunna run out of steam with it if u really wanna get into all of this. M1 pro is lightning quick you’ll never have any issues

M1 air should be fine unless he's doing some really massive projects

@KidBinoo I have a friend that does music on logic and he's still running a 2015 pro

M1 pro is a beast tho im using it rn, but M1 air is still very powerful in its own right

Tbh if you’re just producing and not getting in depth with mixing etc then the m1 air should be fine

those times usually calculated with video watching/internet browsing so if you're doing something more intensive it'll be a bit lower

still the best battery life in a high performance laptop tho
