Recent grad, got laid off from 2 jobs that I was working at due to Covid.
Been looking for a job/internship in finance field but have no luck finding anything.
Been unemployed since March, and this s*** is making me feel like a loser.
Has anyone did data entry?
I know I'm going to be dealing with excel which would be good for a resume. But other than that I'm feeling lost.
Why tf it's so hard to find entry level jobs? I was deadass contemplating life today and asking if this s*** even worth living.
So tired, so stressful
yes! do it. learning how use excel is very valuable.
data entry is stable and who knows, you might be able to use it as a jumping off point in the future.
F*** that, communism is the way to go OP
Just want decent sustainable salary so I can move out and start living.

One of the women at the interview said I will not learn anything
Lmao so confused

honestly go for it, that will help put you into a routine. though don't get comfortable in it, use it as something to push off of when things get better.

who says that at an interview
must be trying to really set the bar low

The owner said if I'm going to leave in few months then it's waste of time for them to hire and train me.
But if I'm willing to stay for a min then it's no problem.

oof idk why she said that lol. if you want to learn more while working there youll find the opportunity. she has a sour attitude.
i thought i wasnt gonna do s*** with my job now when i started a few years ago and i took things by the reins and will now end up with a pretty good position. you get what you give.
If it's your only option and the pay is enough for you to make the lifestyle changes you want then go for it.
As for learning don't stress too much about it. You can do whatever basic s*** they need you to and then independently learn advanced data a***ysis through online courses or whatever. Then in future interviews you can just act like you learned all that on this job.

you don't owe em anything. businesses will drop you even if you're loyal, better to take it and then use it to build yourself up to leave. it's hard for you to go anywhere higher if you're feeling down

The company has like 2.3 stars out of 5 on glassdoor
The company is small and private. The office is nice though.
What kind of job are you doing, if you don't mind me asking.

Any advice on where to learn about tdata a***ysis? Something I want to get into in the future or financial a***yst.

Yeah that's what I told myself. If I find something better, I'll quit that job asap. At the end of the day it's my life and the company makes enough money as is.
The only problem is family friend works there and she hooked me up with this job. Don't want to make her look bad. But at the end of the day idc, My future comes first.

Coursera and edX are always a solid bet.
just one I found after a quick google: coursera.org/learn/applying-data-analytics-business-in-finance
and most are totally free

take the job if nothing else
learn the basics of pivot tables and a bit of VBA scripting and they'll probably think you're a f***in wizard
but fr fr it's a recession, don't feel bad about any job that comes to your table

don’t dwell on the past! i didn’t intern at all during college. i got this job because i applied to a different office and the woman i applied to sent my resume to the office i work at now.
put yourself out there! if lots of people know who you are someone is bound to be interested.
and thank you

I understand pivot tables but need hand on experience to solidify it.
Not familiar with VBA.

VBA look up recording makes making macros a lot easier

That's true but when you're in your late 20's everything feels 10x more stressful.
If I was in my early 20's, I wouldn't even stress about this at all. But since I'm approaching 30 and still haven't really figured it out what am I doing or where am I going in life, is taking a toll on me.
