Ever since I was in elementary school I would fantasize about being involved in the media arts. I would constantly check sites like IMDb, Movie Insider and YouTube for upcoming movie news/trailers and think of concepts of my own. I was mediocre at other subjects but I was consistently great at writing. In middle school my infatuation for hip hop music began, and it soon led to an love for music in general. By high school I was pressured to pursue a career in medicine due to reliable job security and good pay. So I never really took writing or anything for a hobby, but I’d always have ideas and dreams that my writing would land me in high places if I just took it seriously. I kept procrastinating until I graduated college as a Biology major. My dreams of being a renowned writer have fizzled, my skills have gotten VERY rusty and I’m starting to be more interested in catching up to my peers (who are moving forward in their respective medical careers). Should I try to regain that spark again ? At least as a hobby? Or should I move on?

Where there’s a will there’s a way. Never give up on anything you’re passionate about. It’s never too late to figure things out

you should do whatever you want to do nothing wrong with a shift in another direction

going on a career path for job security/money is a recipe for a terrible life but it's what society teaches you for the most part

build your own path and have the life you want or chug along with maintaining other people's perception of what you should be

Start today fam! Jot down your ideas. Punch the writing bag when you can. Create an exercise. My writings aren't good yet however, I started working on listening to albums and writing stores based on the albums. Helps me dive into a world, ground rules, establish characters etc.

Even if it's just one song ya know. There are many avenues into film writing, ad work, commercials, music videos, shorts, animations etc.

Just stay open to creating and never let that light fade away.

I don’t have the strength to write this. I agree. But it’s not an easy road.

all i got to say is you're the same person you were when you were enthusiastic. your skill didn't leave you. it might need to be refined but if you put in a little time to practice your writing, you will not only be as good as you once were, but better. even if it's a hobby, don't quit on your passion. ❤️

Whatever you do don't do it because you want to "live" up to other people and their accomplishments. Do it because it's what you desire when you look inward.

There’s always a way, maybe not the way you envisioned or the way you thought, but it’s possible.

Kanye went to art school to take painting classes, then transferred to state university to study English, then dropped out and became one of the greatest artists of all time. You only have one life brother, never give up on your dreams
