As time goes on we're seeing more and more that internet access has become more of a necessity than it was a luxury in the past.

It's kinda tricky making internet something that is paid for from our taxes as that means low income areas will naturally be f***ed as one can well imagine they won't be getting that great of service, or just left out entirely.

One thing for sure though is that you can't realistically look towards the future if everyone isn't able to be connected. Of course that will bring a new set of problems, but you can't call yourself a "progressive future society" but not have free internet.
