This is kind of a recent annoyance for me, yesterday in our uni lecture we were shown footage of cows being slaughtered and the shot was really drawn out, you saw everything essentially. My mates were like "Oh Henk turn away ahahha" because I'm a life long vegetarian.

However isn't it more so the case that it should be the non vegetarians who turn away and should feel a little bit of empathy for the animal - this is further emphasised by a twitter thread I saw this morning about PETA showing a bull in a bullfighting ring being killed brutally and exposing the bloody nature of it to these people - and they're all moaning about this s*** being on their feed but come on, you're not the animal being killed here are you MAYBE people should see this s*** so they know the cruel nature of where their food comes from? (PETA arent anything amazing either with their shelter scandals)

no one wants to see this s*** but you should feel some sort of empathy WHEN you see it imo

It’s normal for people to feel icky about things like that. I saw it and felt disgusted...

...and to be truthfully honest, you can’t really say much yourself because you’re a vegetarian so you must also be aware of the system that traps chickens and such or the way they treat cows for your dairy.

If u vegetraian u ok with cows getting raped

  • this is the machine, people live in ignorance because they want to be comfortable.

were all guilty of this to some degree. if people really cared they would never work for certain morally bankrupt corporations like mcdonalds and nestle. but this is life, we contribute to society because we want to be secure

i actually respect vegetarian motherfuckers because theyre lowkey boycotting f***ed institutions like mcdonalds that profit off mass slaughter.

just dont act like youre morally better than others by being vegetarian because the truth is youre probably a hypocrite in some other aspect of your life. unless youre a monk or jesus dont put yourself on a pedestal

being vegetarian or vegan is literally the least selfish thing you can do - you're literally saving many lives by just changing your diet

you get the same nutrients and a clean conscience (more so if you are vegan)

anyone who acts morally superior and has to act it out is going about it wrong - but not being funny if you aren't responsible for your meal being the product of killing animals for no reason bar 'it tastes nice' then a vegetarian or vegan IS morally better, its not an act

animals being "slaughtered" makes me feel weird and uneasy because I dislike factory farming.

however seeing animals that are killed by a good hunter, skinned, gutted and then butchered doesn't.

for example something like this doesn't make me uneasy:

people are very disconnected from their food nowadays because they don't have to kill it themselves. they just get it nicely packaged and ready to go

I agree that it's morally better, but the issue people have with outspoken vegans etc is that their plight appears to be fundamentally hollow by virtue of not being morally perfect.

It's like a person Addicted to p***ography telling people the lives of animals is really important.

    ????

Why have you only chosen to be outspoken about this one aspect of life? If you wanna act moral then why not try to be morally perfect? It's just a trendy ego game for some people

I don't think it should matter if an outspoken vegan (do agree that ego is a thing with it though unfortunately) has other moral issues. Trying to find said issue is just kinda pointless because being vegan is completely separate from other things and being a vegan isn't trying to be morally perfect it's just trying to either lead a healthier lifestyle and/or not wanting to involve animal's plight with your dinner.

If you're trying to find another reason to why this person is BAD for being vegan then that's just stupid - anyone who does this should get a life

being a vegan is separate from other moral issues? hmm i dont know if i agree with that

but i mean we can agree to disagree

also im not finding faults for people being vegan, just for the typical outspoken zealous vegans. if youve made a beautiful healthy positive lifestyle choice you shouldnt need to crusade, you should be able to enjoy it by yourself am i right?

veganism is mostly separate because it's main focus isn't humans but animals - anyone who tries to make it about themselves is a self righteous twat

they have to crusade because its not about a healthy lifestyle its about campaigning to stop animals getting killed, somewhat in the same vein to people protesting in the streets about unlawful persecution or womens rights etc.

to vegetarians and vegans the life of an animal should always be a campaigning point, so it's only natural that you get a lot of 'outspoken' vegans however theres a lot of them who can talk about the moral and ethical implications of eating meat without sounding like a self righteous prick
