This idea is somewhat brought on by me learning about the Year of Return in Ghana, where the government invited African descendants of the Trans Atlantic slave trade to visit the country and connect over their heritage and resilience despite enslavement.

I ended up digging deeper and learned that the Ghanaian government allows African diaspora in particular descendants of slavery to settle in the country legally and eventually become naturalized citizens. I learned that this is a pretty sizable movement in the diaspora that’s been going on for a few years now.

What do y’all think of West and Central African countries impacted by the slave trade (Nigeria,Angola,Senegal, Gambia etc) enacting similar laws and initiatives? How do you think it would impact these countries as well as the diaspora? I’m in full support of reuniting diaspora with the continent and it’s something that I view as extremely important.

I wouldn’t compare it. Israeli birthright is upheld through colonial violence and the erasure of Palestinian history and culture.

hopefully this idea spreads in the diaspora. I’m black but not AA and in my almost 10 years living in America I know this place isn’t for people that look like us.

It’s a good concept and I definitely think it should be done

But this won’t be a way to solve the problems caused by centuries of slavery/colonialism/imperialism. Oppression won’t be ended you dig.

    Great idea though

They should, it's an easy way to bring back wealth into your economy (as long as they actually stay and pay their taxes)
