I think Young Thug is building an empire and this means he spreads his musical effort onto so many different creative spaces (YSL, Lil Baby, Gunna, Features w/ Uzi, Travis, Trippie, Future, Drake)

Therefore it makes his own personal albums possibly less concentrated with his best work.

    Take all these for example:

    Slime Language (2018)
    On The Run (2018)
    Hear No Evil (2018)
    So Much Fun (+Deluxe) (2019)
    Slime & B (2020)

all in the span of roughly 2 years? This is about the time span a large artists work on one album, and that's being generous. A lot of artists also wait much longer to drop, for varying reasons

I don't know if this is possible given thug's prolific nature but

Do you think Thug would have better albums if he took more time on one single project? (Like 1.5-2 years?)

I don’t think this is how he’s worked in his entire life, so it’s a big question mark but I don’t see why it wouldn’t help. I’d love to see him try it at least. I hope he’s doing that with PUNK, just really trying to flesh out his ideas or continually making songs with that concept in mind trying to get the best track list possible

    no

    Thug doesn’t work like that

Thug records what’s on his mind in the moment. everything he makes is about what’s actually on his mind.

if he tried forcing a concept over such a long period of time, it just wouldn’t work well.

plus, you’re under the assumption that more time spent on project = better project. Thug hates post-production work on his songs. whatever it sounds like after he initially records is very close to how it’s gonna sound in the end regardless. so putting more time between projects only serves to make fans wait longer with no other benefits.

I'm not under that assumption imo, I was more thinking what it'd be like for songs from Slime Language, SMF, and some of the EP's could have been combined into one album.

I guess its based on personal preference but sometimes I'll be wanting to skip certain songs and I'm wondering what it'd take for him to make a full LP w/ no skips

    but i feel u

I might be more thinking towards:

He spreads his songs in so many places, EP's, singles, albums, collab mixtapes, and I know he's always done this but I'm just wondering if he dropped say a 12~track album with the very best songs from a certain time period instead of doing 5 projects

Thug makes projects with the intent of showcasing his versatility, not focusing on one specific style. it’s by design that you don’t like every song on any single project but you like various songs across all projects

That being said, S*** like Barter 6, So Much Fun is as close as he's gotten imo

  • Jun 29, 2020

    @spongebob

He already did and it’s his best 3 albums

    Barter 6
    Jeffery
    Beautiful Thugger Girls (His best)

Each one of them got a specific vibe
