I was just reading this new Megan Thee Stallion interview where she said "Rap will always be my heart. That’s really what I love to do.”

    harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/a35496164/megan-thee-stallion-march-2021-cover-story

Plus few days ago Cardi B said "This is pop girl s*** but I’m not pop"

You don't have to be fan of these two to appreciate how they are sticking to their roots and not alienating from it like some male rappers after getting few hits under their belt.

I get what @op saying, some of their male counterparts say s*** like "I'm an artist, not a rapper"

A larger point is rappers have to avoid the terms 'rapper/rap/hip hop' because nonblack people don't respect it as a genre
