did not like the ending whatsoever. i understand what they intended to say with it but i just didnt find it fulfilling the time we spent with the characters and show. idk if we care about spoilers so i wont go too in depth beyond that

yup, sorta felt it was shoehorned - it was a “twist” ig, but if introduced like 2 episodes earlier (or it had like 2 extra episodes) feel like it wouldn’t have seemed near as rushed

i did dig the documentary type style at the end, but it didn’t ultimately amount to anything and tbh didn’t give me all the closure i needed

HIMYM made the same mistake. though i dont think this was nearly as bad as that was and has a legitimate argument to be made why they did this. I just feel like this should've had a happy ending and it just makes the entire ride seem pointless.

the entire driving force of the show is you want to see this dream succeed and in a sense it's realistic to show that sometimes they don't. It just isn't what I wanted and it's disappointing.

feel that, as hamfisted it sort of would be

wit the lost flash drive wit everything at the very end!

it would have, like you said, not seemed completely pointless if like, let’s say, the college chick at the ol hacker house found it left there after the visit - or f***ing anyone, gwart, nameless character ...

like idk , ig itd be vague either way and i got to respect a semi (albeit last minute) open end, but yes - i wouldn’t say it (basically the season as a whole) wasn’t satisfying, necessarily - it was more just sort of sad if anything.

  • Dec 12, 2019

idk wit some of the sort of “cliff hangers” they left us w it at the end of previous szns, i expected a more fulfilling ending , i think

like, almost on some Halt & Catch Fire type s***, for all the ride we went thru

whereas we basically got an ending that was just slightly alluded to in a couple previous episodes but basically all developed within the finale

the whole last season i found kind of disappointing. i dont think thats on the show tho they clearly didnt want only 7 eps to tell their story but man catastrophe type moments that would last whole episodes originally were lasting like minutes and then fading away.

yea and clearly no one even watched either besides us who were in it from the beginning so i guess its no surprise why

but adding onto my original sentiment, with how much stop/start moments the company experienced id just argue the only satisfying moment would be it working out and the drive at the end isn't enough for me personally.

yup, like i’d almost take him actually having it, plugging it in and just having a mischievous look in his eye at the end just any sort of “closure” i can sleep on

but yeah i think we totally on the same page. i’m not super mad i mean idek if it could have had a “perfect” end considering everything involved. just didn’t seem like a (7?) szn finale, to me

(if you watched veep, it was almost sorta exactly the same, now that i think about it )

anyway i mentioned Half & Catch Fire earlier, watch that next ASAP if you need that nerd fix - not really comedic, although funny at times, mostly drama and semi historical depiction of the early age of computers. p well done considering it was an (AMC?) show or something?

look i’m a sucker for s*** like this already but i’ll say it was a good ass show, i enjoyed it as a whole totally and would say it’s worth following through

nothing groundbreaking, but entertaining and quality

also, absolutely classic characters, like Jared

  • Dec 12, 2019

also the Gilfoyle, dorky kid from Freaks & Geeks revival ???

    absolutely classic character

Just became too repetitive after awhile. Keepthereceipt had a good point about all of the stop/start moments.

  • Dec 12, 2019

I swear I remember posting in another Silicon Valley thread on here lmao.

Either way, one of the best comedies in recent years. One of my fav shows for sure.

yeah but after a point i just accepted that as almost absurdist and part of the brand, and they managed to mix it up every season - besides this one wit the finale/final szn forreal -where they sort of fumbled it

i think the right ending IMO would've been is they accidentally run the actually right version of the software when they were confused whether to trust dinesh or not and it ends up working out in the end.

the season 1 finale is one of the most euphoric moments ive experienced watching as a show, that was really the true peak of the show IMO.

Agreed and the funniest moment of the show w/ the wacking off equation scene
