I think the reason Kanye doesn’t get boring whereas Jay Z definitely has at random pockets of his career/discog is because Jay runs out of things to talk about other than art whereas Kanye parrots all of the things that he observes (which results in him basically presenting other peoples experiences in his music)

Ye is a producer and rapper. He’s way more hands on with his music. Not only that he gets help with both. That’s not taking anything away from him though he’s the goat. He makes hip hop music and comes from that culture but a good portion of his records aren’t even really rap songs so he works with a lot more sounds/textures.

Hov is a traditional rapper. His goal as an artist is to drop verses. He’s done so much within the space of music and a lot of it has to due with his skill and ability make hits. We all heard the stories about him not writing and doing verses in 15 min. At one point that wasn’t really normal especially when you consider his ceiling

He’s made gimmicky records but he’s never been too over the top he just knew how to rap very well and worked with great producers. He’s been competing with all types of artists w his style and he’s been around forever. Still, he doesn’t have the same goals as somebody like Ye who wanted to be on some visionary s*** imo.

That doesn’t take away from Hov as an artist bc it’s all a matter of preference. There’s a lot of people that don’t care for some of those “innovative” Ye records just like some people don’t care for some of Jay classics bc they “outdated” or “overrated”

A Versuz would be a lot closer than some of y’all realizing bc you’re underestimating the impact of these Jay Z records. Those “old heads” and “people that only like one genre” love those Hov records and they’re highly revered within the culture for reasons outside of this imaginary scale of innovation
