  • What a title to come up with that one. Now that's how you get people to stop the car and take a look'sie.

Narrated by Laurie Anderson, this has to get some nom's & awards now.

here's a conversation about it from the american film institute

    Info

"A new, feature-length documentary, Sisters With Transistors, covers the remarkable advances of female composers in electronic music.

The Lisa Rovner-directed film covers pioneers like Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Pauline Oliveros, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher (pictured), Eliane Radigue, Suzanne Ciani and Laurie Spiegel, drawing extensively on archival footage. It also explores the social and cultural factors that allowed women to flourish within the developing field.

"We women were especially drawn to electronic music when the possibility of a woman composing was in itself controversial," says Spiegel. "Electronics let us make music that could be heard by others without having to be taken seriously by the male dominated Establishment."

Laurie Anderson narrates the film, which was an official selection at SXSW 2020 and as well as the Sheffield Doc Fest, where it is currently available to watch online for UK audiences."

UK fam, let us know how it is.
