Skepta's one of my favourite producers but i don't know what was going through his head with this
D Double E almost saved it, as he does any song but i can't get past that hook lmao.
Skepta took so much time on this album, and outside of maybe Energy, It ain't Safe and That's Not Me are his best singles ever. Idk why this deserved to make the cut lol.
upset this is the D Double E x Skepta song we got in this era.
They made up for it a couple years later tho
only just found out but i think this tune is a reference to this ukg group (which actually included wiley but he was the dj then)
well worth checking out

yeah it's a deliberate reference. most uk songs have a wiley reference in even the drill producers are at it
Wiley actually made one of my favourite garage songs ever around those times:
Ladies Hit Squad had Target (legendary uk dj) and Maxwell D in it too, so i'm pretty sure it became Pay As U Go.
Which Wiley had his first proper hit with. It's mad Boasty was one of the biggest uk songs last year 18 years after this came out:
You know that song on Konnichiwa, that goes 'lyrics for lyrics calm' that's a reference to a wiley line from a Pay As U Go clash with Heartless. Champagne Dance has one of his most classic 16s too, oi it's the paper boy i'm in effect directly from the L-O-N E3 check it i step it up....

His most recent album is better imo

he probably agrees with you and i get the argument
i love bullet from a gun a lot
i feel like That's Not Me and It Ain't Safe will be career highlights for him tho, and will always be classic UK songs, no matter what people think about Konnichiwa. Same as Energy, can't believe someone like Drake didn't steal that Wizkid hook from Skepta
Tbh my favourite Skepta is his early mixtapes. but ignorance is bliss probably has the best overall sound. with konnichiwa having the most memorable beats.
i liked the EP he dropped between albums too mostly.
Did you like the Chip/Adz collab album he put out?
