@Campari whats your routine looking like?

Hey! It’s pretty simple these days, I have cut back on a couple of products recently.

I use actives like Tretinoin .5%, BHA 2%, Finacea 15% whenever I feel like I need them but my routine is mostly:

    AM:

    • CeraVe Facial Foaming Cleanser
    • Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion
    • Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Moisturizer
    • Rohto Skin Aqua Milk SPF 50++++

    PM:

    • SKIN1004 Madagascar Cleansing Oil
    • Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion
    • Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Moisturizer
    • Youth To The People Superberry Mask

I still use other products like Stratia Liquid Gold, Youth To The People Glow Dream Oil, Melano CC & a couple of masks whenever I feel like a need an extra boost but they’re not being used daily like they were before.

It’s always best to keep it simple and listen to your skin, my biggest tip is to focus on hydration. Having a strong moisture barrier will do wonders for your skin.

My routine as of right now:

    Morning:
    The Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    Complex Daily Face Cream
NeutrogenaÂŽ Ultra SheerÂŽ Dry-Touch Spf 30 (If i'm going outside)

    PM:
    The Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
    Complex Daily Face Cream

Every Wednesday I alternate between using the Ordinary's 7% Glycolic Acid or their Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution (Don't wanna overdo exfoliation by using them both throughout the week)

Every Saturday I use the Ordinary's salicylic acid mask. I also use my body exfoliating gloves in the shower

Check out Melano CC, it’s like $15 and it’s very tightly packaged meaning the Vitamin C does not oxidize. It’s more of a spot treatment that targets hyperpigmentation rather than an all over face serum but it can still be used as one. It lasts me like 10-11 months!

just got into skin care - Not sure if my routine is good or not but today was the first time I ever looked in the mirror and thought gawd damn my skin looks good.

Cleanse - Simple Water Boost Micellar Facial Gel Wash

Exfoliate -Paula's Choice- 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant

    Vitamin C Serum - Geek & Gorgeous 101 C-Glow

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum

Moisturize: Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha

Is it worth starting tretinoin if I have no wrinkles + pretty good skin? I'm 26 right now trying to decide if I should bite the bullet

I wouldn’t recommend having vitamin c & an exfoliant in the same routine, it can be harsh to layer actives together, I would do the former in the day and latter at night. However, if it works for you then by all means!

Tretinoin can be difficult, you may face a lot of purging and dry skin but the results are great, it’s not only to battle acne but very effective in anti-aging as well. If you do start, begin with a low concentration and see how it works for you.

Yes, it essentially injures the skin in a very controlled manner and when the skin repairs itself, it does so using and filling up the indents with collagen.

Any advice for acne in the T-Zone? It’s more so the area between my brows. That’s like the only area I’ve had some trouble with recently. I been hitting with AHA and BHA and it seems to be working okay but is there anything else I should do? @campari

Look into double cleansing - it’s process of using an oil based cleanser first which goes deep into the pores and eliminates gunk, dirt, sunscreen & heavy products. Follow it up with your regular water based cleanser. This method allows for sebum control and a healthy and fresh surface.

Other factors can be to ensure you don’t touch your face at all throughout the day, if you trim your eyebrows make sure the blade or razor is clean - you can also follow up with a dab of BHA to disinfect it.

I’m not sure if you’re getting whiteheads or cysts in the zone but give your face a break from the actives, constant use of BHA & AHA can break your moisture barrier and cause acne to trigger far easier. You can also use a little bit of benzyl peroxide.

Always hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! It will do wonders, especially in that zone :)

when you say hydrate, do you mean by using something that has hyaluronic acid?

Yes but hyaluronic acid is just one of the many hydrating ingredients. Products with ceramides, glycerin and squalene are super helpful as well. Also, don’t forget to drink water!

I actually double cleanse lol typically buy all my stuff from Soko glam. Korean skin care is truly a game changer. But maybe I do need to take a break from overdoing it with the actives on my t-zone and focus more on hydration there

Sunscreen is the most important part of your routine. The sun is so damaging to the skin it’s insane, basically reduces the efficiency of the other products you’re already using for your skin

Also sunscreen changed my whole skincare game. Barely any new whiteheads and PIH has improved dramatically, mostly contained within the acne scars. Rosacea is completely gone and my nose doesn’t look like I’ve been in a boxing match anymore.
