ok heres my thoughts on slayr

the effort he puts into his music is super impressive and honestly inspiring. that being said for some reason i lowkey hate most of his songs. its formulaic in its sort of chaotic euphoria, the arpeggiated saw and square synths, the bright and colorful playful melodies, its almost too much, its like a deluge of rainbow colors that intensifies as the songs progress. it has a very adolescent vibe that is sort of endearing but also very lacking in nuance

maybe im too much of a deviant minded trap enthusiast to really enjoy his music but i rly dont. i love a few of his songs tho mainly because of the vocal melodies being fun to sing. i wish him the best and i hope he finds a way to make his music feel more interesting

  • to me slayr is a reminder that the amount of talent and effort a artist puts into their music is far less important than the overall message/vibe/color

i want to like it because its so crazy on the production side but i jus dont find myself enjoying the listen. i do like the more darker songs he has like that never go down song

i love what he represents in the space, but i also feel like hes part of this dilution of underground rap culture that is becoming more and more caucasian

    agree to disagree

    respect tho

personally, i love the bubbly sparkly innocent soundscape.
cause i fw jpop music a lot and they def pull from jpop. i'm glad a rapper finally decided to use jpop sounds + kawaii future bass +anime. ive been waiting for this

i do think that waera and slayr keep repeating the same rhythms, motifs and chord progression sometimes tho some of the instrumentation sound too similar like waera can't stop using that damn lead synth preset

Yea i mean its objectively solid music, jus doesnt pull my heart strings the way i like

Honestly its very similar to a lot of muaic ive made but it feels more formulaic
