Idk who this but I can tell this is a liked artists cause people are actually having nuance thoughts and not just going “yeah cancel her “immediately
Even if I agree with the stance the difference when ppl like someone is funny
Respect to your conclusion and I'm of the opposite spectrum. I do not believe that type of behavior can be reformed with apologies in terms of being in a higher social class. The only way to show penance imo would be to be in service of the people whom you've made these types of inflammatory statements about, because that behavior is taught the same if not more of that effort needs to put into action
Being offended doesn't really matter, racism isn't offensive it's oppressive. Of course you'd be offended by being oppressed but the indication of racism as an act supersedes the feeling of offense
Agree with this.
are white people the only ones that casually go “yeah I had a little racist phase lol”
Speaking as a black person, a lot of black people don’t like to acknowledge a lot of problematic things we said as kids/teens. More so homophobic or slurs and stereotypes against other marginalized communities.
I feel like most people have that phase even if just edgy jokes
Big difference is being black stereotyping and edgy sense of humor isn’t necessarily the same as white racism that’s at the expense of communities being genocided, enslaved, lynched, and systematically held at a disadvantage to them as the oppressor.
It didn’t make the former acceptable. But just not comparable either
This is for sure edgy teen white culture
I get the whole “edgy teenager joke tweets” but why they always go “ ”? And the tweets aren’t even actually funny or jokes.
“Quite the annoying lil niggarito” like wtf does that even mean
the white person that typed nigga into twitter and compiled all these wonder if they cancelled themselves too

Even this, I don't like when we try to empathize our faults to make another race feel better. They weren't subjugated to the same or even nearly similar conditions that birthed a lot of these talking points. A good book to read or just be aware of is Post Traumatic Slave Disorder by Dr. Joy DeGruy. I'm not saying to minimize our faults and neither are you, but that's something we have to evaluate and deem for ourselves for a group of people with no proper ethnogenesis. Once we the rubric to a foundation then can we start bringing forth our issues to the collective but at this present moment the collective has no interest into helping our group delineate from what was attributed to us

About to grab a copy of this now 🫡 and once again I have to say I agree with you. I’m not the best with words sometimes tbh (which is ironic being a writer I’m bad at explaining points at times lol.) I never want it to seem like I want to absolve or coddle other groups by bringing attention to our or missteps.
You're better than this, man. Of course they know, his whole shtick lately has been him overcompensating for being a racist by only making content with black people, but because the people he works with get paid and more fame (clout), they don't care.
Bruh I truly think a lot of them don’t know. You have to either research him or be very on the internet to know his past. This how it go: the labels tryna push this rapper, they send them to media outlets, and they go. The labels prolly know, but these artists just going to do their press runs.
queer and trans ppl have been making a lot of interesting rap music and it's kind of its whole own scene at this point but there DEFINITELY is a lot of unchecked racism in that whole niche ngl and there's definitely a lot of artists there that I've been getting weird energy from
claiming black music as a music of the oppressed bc that's you too without at all reflecting the power dynamics of that move.. not working w any black artists or at least showing love to those that pioneered the genre you appropriate
it's sometimes more of a subtle thing but I'm lowkey not surprised someone this disrespectful was able to thrive in a rap scene this white
u could def even take this further and apply it to the use of black lingo in general in the queer community. it's not 100% a bad thing ofc and just testament of the
Not in the scene so I can't speak much on it beyond what I've observed but I've definitely seen some queer wigh folk taking on the "sassy Black woman" mannerisms, got me like
Why do so many white people go through an edgy phase where they spam the word nigga every chance they get

You're actually doing the most important by fleshing out your ideas so that interactions like these can happen. We have just have to stay curious and for that I appreciate you
She has crazy vocal range as well , one of those white girls that 70 Years ago could alert the entire town using her voice that a black person was present, rebel yell
Why do so many white people go through an edgy phase where they spam the word nigga every chance they get
Gotta get those niggas out they system before they're expected to know better. It's like reverse drinking age

be sounding like they doing a minstrel performance

racist parents, racist media, segregated friend groups in public schools. and they don't like to hang out with people who challenge their biases so they have a feedback loop of racism. and a lot of them will go most of their life without having a meaningful relationship with someone who is a different race than them
Them just casually admitting it and telling folks to move on or pulling out the "you all were probably homophobic, biphobic, transphobic or ableist, so you all ain't any better" is wild
“No justified words, it wasn't really a different time”

semi off topic but one of the stranger music moments I've had was when I spoke to someone who said rap was their favourite genre & they had a bunch of favourite artists
Then they proceeded to list over 25 white rappers, nothing wrong with white rappers but in a genre that's predominantly black hearing that basically felt like they were making a conscious decision to avoid listening to black artists
I couldn't ask '...
no black ones?
' but I did ask for others & then named some stuff like 21 Pilots & other rock/pop acts that have bits of rap delivery
Old Technology is a good enough song to get away with a racial offense. male rapists and murders get more leverage for less
It's so funny how these young people on TikTok makes almost every idiot popular not giving a fck at the beginning and then some s*** about their idol surfaces and they turn into a moral judge and get mad all of sudden like its not their fault for giving them a platform
The Passionate Ones out now!!!
