I swear this been my vibe for like 3 years now

    Such a beautiful wave

    !!

It's rly crazy, just starting to realize how much the music which came out of this has defined my past 3 years. Amazing stuff from the get-go but it still feels like they're only blossoming their talents

    True say

I feel the 2020’s will be a special decade where the new black genre gets invented/comes to fruition. Hip-Hop has been around for 40 years now, we’re long overdue. And when looking back in hindsight, I think artists such as these will be considered the stepping stone and transition into whatever that sound may be.

interesting take, most of these guys are still very steeped in genre conventions (like film noir working in the industry of conventions while subverting most of the values), but there's already lots of attempts to break out of hip-hop altogether. In that context SOTC and Slauson are the most interesting to me, but MIKE also increasingly. Plus Keiyaa's take on R&B is also testing borders

Slauson already is p much post-genre tbh, I can't really see what new genre would be created out of this but I can see them being a gateway for whatever's next as a real possibility it's some of the most innovative Black music of right now as far as I can perceive rn anyway

damn how did I miss this last year one of the most insane line-ups I've ever seen

unreleased SOTC from that too, though this seems to be only half of it

    nts.live/shows/guests/episodes/kahlil-joseph-presents-blknws-4th-may-2020

Kahlil Joseph (video director for Flylo, Shabazz, Beyonce, etc, etc) playing Hindsight by Medslaus different levels of real. Man Medslaus had so much future still last year.

Joseph or Jafa linking up with Slauson would be a dream

    Tears of Joy for me.

My enjoyment for WOTW actually has dipped a bit upon revisiting it lately. Loved it at first but not as much now.

Yep, those two and either WOTW or maybe Renaissance Man would make up my top 3. In that order.

Honestly I can take MIKE's entire 2020 in my top 3 rly think he's only levelling up. WIMP also got a special place in my heart for me tho cause it's the one which made me fall in love with his music and still some of his best production imo
