First one was cool until it became a mental health drama
Isnt that what horror is, in its essence
Movie was dope.
Watched the first one for preparation today cause I wanted to catch some movie at the theatre and Smile 2 looked right up my lane. Did not like the 1st one, felt boring and full of cheap jumpscares.
This one is way better though. Naomi Scott is great in this, the movie has way more style and I found it super entertaining. Like they still have the jumpscares and people were freaking out over them but I thought a decent chunk of them were hilarious, and they felt intentional to me lmao. Like the scene where the Lewis dude pulls her lips to make her smile when she's looking in the mirror, her knocking the old lady down at the charity event, the friend turning into a truck while sleeping, the naked guy with the soiled undies running at her, the group of dancers ambushing her in her room, etc.
Super entertaining movie and worth watching in a packed theatre, don't wait for VOD. Probably the biggest jump in quality I've seen in a sequel in a long time.
Only f***ed thing was that the distributor sent a wrong print to my local cinema. The movie up until the intermission was fine but afterwards it had the audio description on. Sorta ruined the immersion in some parts but thankfully that voiceover was mixed lower than the main audio.
They really fumbled with the marketing for this one, it deserves to be so much bigger, specially considering how crazy they went for the first part.

Promo undeniably stunk but it could be picking up steam now
I like how the director has put the protagonist t through helllll in these lol He doesn't hold back at all. I can't wait to see what he does outside of this
Walked in right as that dude got hit by the car, what did I miss?
The guy who got hit by the car was the police officer who had been cursed in the first movie at the end, he had gone to some d\*\*\* dealers to transfer one of them the curse but kills them both by mistake, there was a guy there (Lewis who transfers it to Skye later) who came to get some d\*\*\*\* to sell later on. Lewis gets the curse luckily for the police officer despite both the dealers dying but then some other d\*\*\* dealers come and ambush the place, the police officer runs to escape but dies by the car
I liked the first one but Smile 2 blows it out the water. Glad I got the theatre experience for this. I was shook the whole time
I thought the first Smile had potential but was ultimately mediocre. But THIS however was one of my favorite movie going experiences this year. This is exactly what a blockbuster horror is supposed to be. Just a never-ending tense ride. Not trying to spoil anything but the ending was highly predictable. As soon as I saw the first trailer I knew they were gonna take it there. Either way I had a fantastic time and I can’t wait to see what Parker Finn does next. He’s clearly a talented filmmaker and I’m hoping he can showcase his skills outside of the Smile franchise
Holy s***, this movie was batshit crazy
Had to apologize to gf because it unnerved her so much, that it ruined her night
I didn’t expect this to be this tense and gory, s*** felt like a bizarre nightmare at points. There were some good dark humour also, and the sound effects were insane. Feels like this took some inspiration from asian horror movies with the imaginery, lots of f***ed up scenes . Really ballsy from the director to put this out in this form, i was expecting a worse version of the first one but this exceeded every expectation i had.
Did not enjoy the first one so probably gonna pass on this
Bro look at the past 2 posts itt! The two above this post rn. And the post below this one
So many reviews are basically saying the same thing at those too. That it smokes the first and is on another level
I think the imagery in this was more unevering and visual than some of those slow burn horror films that got hyped for that... example being long legs
