This guy very descriptive telling stories. If he slowly and creatively incorporates that more into his music he could be something
glad they touched on artists posting drake's dms when he reaches out to people. smiley said he intentionally avoiding posting that type of stuff
At 29:28 when Smiley is talking about sending records back and forth he says Drake asked, “This song’s hard, can I use this?”
Am I just misinterpreting or he is talking about essentially giving drake a reference track or flows? Seems unlikely but that’s how he phrased it

Dumbest s*** to do tbh. Pretty much ruins any trust from the jump and jeopardises a potential collab. Sharing private messages is wack

Drake should help write for smiley like he did for Baka (the songs that hit) or just help him smooth out the less palatable aspects of his s***
Smiley describing TIFF as the bare movie night in the city got me crying @AJVLANEY

it’s time someone calls it what it is

People came out and claimed that Drake used like the flows of 5 different rappers (e.g. Valee) for that hook so whose influence is it? Y'all need to stop with this s***.

Smiley should grow himself lmao. Wayne didn't write for Drake or Nicki. Why is he an artist if he can't put in the work to develop his craft himself?
Smiley deffo gave ideas on NFITI
"Ideas" is a stretch. The most I'd say is Drake used a flow similar to his for the first 4 bars of the track and if he indeed contributed anything creatively, he'd have been credited.

That doesn't mean he can't grow himself. Drake grew himself but sometimes you can create great things collaboratively.
Some strong guidance at least on song making at least. He made 'body' so he's on the right path anyway

Drake can certainly give him some pointers but I think it sets a bad precedent writing songs for an artist you just signed. They should be able to do that themselves. That's the only way they'll truly grow.

I wonder what’s the process of getting signed to an imprint. Especially someone like Smiley. Do they just want you to play them a bunch of track or is there a point when they want to see you put together a track/lyrics over multiple instrumentals so they can be like “ok, this dudes got it”
