Man even raising kanans music industry side plots were better written then this slop lmfao at them generating a giant bag of cash as big as franklin selling bulk cocaine bricks off some one song tape in less than a day or 2

When Dara announces herself into the convo from 40 ft away, tells Leon to choose and then the “I choose youuuuuuu” song starts playing

Feel like the scene with the old lady talking to herself on phone about Wanda and then looking like she was about to hug Wanda only to slap her gotta go viral, some of worst acting I seen in a minute

It did bother me in last week's episode that they referred to weed as "loud" in a freestyle when it wasn't really called that until the 00's to my understanding

Overall I dig the show...Lamar kind of a cornball with his eyes bugging out all the time like he has trouble seeing or some s*** but its fun

Feel like Artillary getting smoked before the season ends unfortunately

It’s not too late but feel like they need a new show runner and director if they get a season 2 cuz there’s something real off about the way this is shot and the dialogue, even little things like Dara’s henchman telling that guy “she tryna f*** Leon now!” Right in front of her is just so…odd and not believable lmao and there doesn’t seem to be much heart and soul in this and its characters the way there was in snowfall, it’s very surface level if that makes sense

And the bad writing/directing is leading to lots of so bad it’s good scenes which I ain’t mad at but they gotta cut itttt!!

I feel you on that i thought that bit of dialogue was strange too

Didn't care for Lamar and his brother having that conversation at the piano while the grandparents are in their room...makes the house seem HUGE lol she went off on Wanda but didnt have s*** to say to Lamar when he showed up? Cmon

  • That Leon scene where he’s listening to I Miss You and looking through old photos

I like it. But idk there’s something about it that stops it from being great for me.

I can’t put my finger on it but I can’t put it up there with the wire and breaking bad. But still very good show. I’m almost done and gonna check the spin off

    Bet.

I think one of the issues I have is the writers don’t fully know how to write street niggas. I mean 2 of the creators is white and RIP Singleton…. Idk I feel like a lot of shows like Power, Empire, this it’s written by people who try and imagine what the streets are like but don’t actually have any experience.

Now this isn’t anywhere near as bad as empire or power don’t get me wrong, but it does have a little hint of that cartoony nature to it.

Legit the only white guys I’ve seen capture the inner city and black folks is the writers of the wire. And I think that was due to them being journalist and actually spending time amongst the people.

Idk I think I’m just a lot more critical of black projects that dabble with inner cities cus that’s a world I’m familiar with. Hell even the wire sometimes had Omar sounding a little cartoony, as much as I love his character there were a few scenes where I’m like “yeah you can tell this a white person trying to write how black people talk”

This is also why a show like Atlanta is such a goated show to me and probably in my top 5. It’s just authentic as f***. I don’t think I ever heard a piece of dialogue and cringe.

That particular issue you mentioned gets ramped up to 100 no lie

That’s basically what I was alluding too earlier discussing the spinoff but couldn’t quite place it till you hit it on the head as to why it felt so off and clunky

    You ll see lol

  • That drive by was shot SO F***ING BADLY LMFAO

car supposedly peeling off but is going so slow they re able to chase right behind it exposing it was going maybe 25 miles per hour before turning right

And Lamar’s b**** ass, his big pitch is just a picture of his face and a dj name, and they allow it all cuz Wanda who has no pull co-signed her cousin lmfao who wrote this show
