He was enjoying life after being released so I can't fault him for "waiting too long" so long as the comeback record is a good one and he's happy.
The only issue I see is that he dropped it the same day DRAKE releases a highly anticipated project that's also right in the middle of a brewing media s***storm with Kanye who's fresh off Donda.
Like imagine thinking about charting at that point.
