No. Kanye loves and has always loved Trump because he sees a lot of himself in him.

pretty much. people condemning kanye's relationship with trump when he managed to do positive things with it are a little silly in my opinion

No, he saw a lot of similarities between himself and Trump, and likely felt that the tribalism between Liberals and Republicans was about to collapse and be replaced with centrism. It was far less about supporting Trump and far more about peace and love. This is why he considered making his album cover the photo of the doctor that killed his mother, not because he supports him and think's he's a great doctor, but because he genuinely wishes the best for the man and knows we're all better off supporting each other.

However I think he failed to anticipate exactly how much trump would use the concept of tribalism and bias for his own personal gain at the expense of the nation he swore to serve and protect. That's likely why he's stated to back off of the Trump support.

The Bill Clinton incident likely played a larger role in this than people give Kanye credit for. I've seen a lot of people suggest that he's changed since the Bill outburst, without actually asking how or why. When you listen to interviews about the subject both with Bill and Kanye, it's clear that nothing good politically actually came of it, just publicity for Kanye. If anything, the increased division between the black community and the president only made it harder for him to prioritize their needs, since anything he did in their favor would be neglected and he'd never have a chance with them as a voter base, so why even try to do anything for them? I think he learned from this incident that simply calling someone out for being s*** doesn't do s*** but start a war, and that it's far more productive to work together instead of against each other.

TL;DR He didn't do this for a specific business deal or to get a single person out of jail, he did it to try and be productive without sowing the mental seeds of resentment that spawn from simple vocal criticisms. Anyone can call anyone an idiot, it does nothing but push people apart, no good comes of it, or at least so he thought.
