I really don't understand how y'all can have such silly takes about Drake and who he is as an artist. Drake has NEVER been the guy to take 3 years off to cook an album. He's said that as many times as he can (most recently in the trailer video for SH3) and he's proved that in his actions.

Since 2006, when he dropped his first full length, project, 18 years have passed and in that time, he has dropped a total of 17 full length projects. Does that strike you as someone who likes to take breaks? That simply isn't a philosophy he subscribes and it's silly to think him taking time off automatically means he'll return with something you'll appreciate as being reflective of him showing "growth."

He dropped 8 full length projects before scoring his first #1 single as a lead artist but y'all keep pushing this silly narrative that the sole reason why he drops as much as he does is because he cares about scoring #1s and breaking records. All this for the one guy who has never used any of the industry smoke and mirrors tricks to gain success like radio deals or bundles or $5 vinyls or pushing 50 variants of the same album. He literally drops his songs and never speaks on them ever again. He rarely even promotes his own music outside of an IG post. But I get it. Y'all need to push narratives.

I don't think it's silly to say that his current philosophy is why I'm not a fan of him and that if he changed his philosophy maybe he would start to make music that appeals more to me

I'm not saying that he always cared about number 1s and streaming records and those accolades, I'm saying I believe now that is his focus and I believe that happened sometime during/after Views, which is around when I stopped being a fan

Yeah I think when those accolades started to become reachable to him he began to focus on them. I think there has been a sonic change for him after Views and that's what I base my theory on

And sure, I do not know that man, so I could be wrong, but whatever his philosophy of dropping annually is, it leads to making music that doesn't appeal to me and I believe if he took a meaningful break (not 2 months) he could return and make music that would appeal to me. Would love to hear a mature rap album from him, something like a 4:44
