It’s possible for something to be different and lame, you can’t hide behind being different as a shield against criticism. I think sticking with a full rollout like he did is cool but it doesn’t really match the music imo which is what makes it not connect, it looks like a pop star in a costume instead of taking you into a world, because the music don’t match and makes you aware that it’s not real. That’s where the gimmick thing comes in, if it felt organic people wouldn’t say that

It also doesn’t help that Abel has the charisma of a turnip which just makes it feel awkward on another level. He can’t pull off playing a character, he can barely play the role of a convincing human being
