Phuckin Lady
So on first listen, definitely my favorite project of hers. I love the sound she’s starting to settle into, almost bridging the gap between rage beats and hyperpop/electronic overall. When it works, it sounds better than anyone in her gen easily.
I think the biggest thing holding her back still is cohesion. That’s nothing new for her, Anger Management was her tightest project and even that didn’t hold it together for the whole runtime without going off on stylistic tangents. I had a bad feeling that that would happen again when I saw Jungle Remix on the tracklist (as much as I f***ing love that song) and imo, cut this down to 10-12 tracks and flesh out those ideas and we’re looking at a fantastic record.
Like specifically, cut Vaderz, Messy, Blow Me, Black Punk unless she were to explore the back half more, hell even Jungle, and that’s a really strong stylistic statement. As it is, it’s still a great project, but it’s going to be a weird halfway between an album I want to play from the top and a collection of songs in my playlists.
Can’t f***ing wait to see her live this fall with Kehlani

you want her to cut every single one of the best tracks maybe have a couple more listens before you post stuff like this. sometimes it’s hard to understand exactly how an album comes together on first listen, but you’ve obviously missed something if you think she should’ve cut all the best songs that are most true to the aesthetic and musical direction of this album.

that’s why I said first listen lmao. I post s*** like this all the time and the thread was dead and I want more people to hear this album, hit me with your criticism then.
Idk if I’d call those the best or worst either to be clear, I just want to have a full project of hers that really hones in on a specific sound/direction and those were the outliers on first listen. Only song I truly didn’t like at first was Blow Me tbh and I’ll still give it more spins
Edit: I definitely disagree that those were the biggest contributors to the aesthetic. The entire back half is far more cohesive than the front, I’m talking everything after Dance Scream

That dude is really aggressive dont mind him but I will say I wish fans stopped trying to make artist do one sound per album thats really outdated and boring and i love that artist are giving people a variation in sound in projects thats how a lot of my fav projects are

That’s a fair point honestly. I subjectively prefer a more cohesive listen bc I tend to listen to albums in one sitting and honestly it’s a personal taste thing. But I’ve always loved Rico’s ability to adapt and even in her “core” sound she never settles into a pattern. She could’ve just made Trust Issues over and over for a career and been done with it but she’s never stopped reinventing herself and I respect the hell out of that.
Idk, I should prob be more clear that my take was what I’D personally like to hear from her. But overall I’m loving this project and I really think she’s only getting better
one of the worst projects ive heard all year, i don't know what she was exactly going for on here but wasn't too keen on it at all.

You make some good points, but the cuts are kinda crazy lmao.
Def agree on cuttin Jungle tho, that didn’t belong on this.
they gotta make it so they can put multiple genres for an album cause it says it’s hiphop/rap but this s*** like
alternative hyper pop rap metal dance music
Just saw her open for Kehlani and holy f***
I really want to see her as a headliner soon. That was f***ing crazy and way too short
Black Punk, Messy, Intrusive, Vaderz live
