Anyone got any good fiction/poetry recommendations from communist writers?
I read a poem by Pablo Neruda that blew me away, so I had no idea who he was and was surprised when I googled him

both, anything you can recommend tbh, I'm in

The poem I read from Pablo Neruda had nothing to do with communism, but he himself was communist. Also I'm reading Aldous Huxley's Island, and I guess he wasn't explicitly communist iirc but that novel has big socialist undertones.

    For more accessible/entertaining stuff:
OG Heart of Darkness (book, but movie works too I guess)
Probably anything from Philip K D*** , esp Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
The original Dune (unironically) or the original Starship Troopers (also unironically)
Cat’s Cradle or Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut among others
    Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

Historical or more general stuff you might find interesting:
Robert Frost (esp since Hughes was mentioned)
Cane by Jean Toomer (rest of his work is interesting too)
When Harlem Was In Vogue by David Lewis
    Almost anything by Sinclair Lewis
Idk maybe even Sylvia Plath or something poem-wise just for different perspective works

Huxley was in the Fabian society, he was def a socialist but in a kinda revisionist manner

Looks like it’s just a collection of articles and talks he’s given. I’ll probably just read the ones that sound interesting to me

really interesting episode going into aspects of the russian bourgeoisie

the point about many of the most ardent communists and antifascists dying during WWII potentially having downstream effects such as the restoration of capitalism in the 1950s is really interesting

We've talked about the historic conditions (only being allowed to hold jobs in finance etc) that led to Jewish people being overrepresented in certain positions here before, but does anyone have any resources on it? I've heard Kwame Ture make the argument but can't find it now

Goddamn this is a big list thank you

Dune been on my reading list for a minute now, after the movie I watched a Herbert interview and his ideas about the book and the world itself seemd great.

Also Blood Meridian has been on my read list, but I'm gonna check all of these
