I hate the stupid "you can't judge X by modern standards" argument but it's been fun trolling people who think Stalin killed 2 billion people by saying "Europeans just valued life less in the interwar quit judging them by modern standards "
I never post in this thread because everyone in here seems much smarter than me so it's a bit intimidating, but I do lurk from time to time.
To add some context to this post, my girlfriend/bm is mixed with Chinese. Anyway, my mother called me in excitement earlier today because Shen Yun is going to be in Seattle soon and she wanted to take my girlfriend, our daughter, and I. I told her I'd talk to her about it when I came to pick up my daughter. So, I got there and had to sit down and explain what Falun Gong was to the best of my ability (once again, I'm not very smart and I have a hard time getting a solid grasp on a lot of topics). I told her to go if she really wants to see the performance, but I just wanted her to know who Falun Gong are and what they're about.
I see those Shen Yun posters all over the place for a little bit every year. When I first saw them a few years back I was pretty curious, but them saying "China Before Communism" kind of gave me an idea of what type of time they're on. When I started youtubing and googling the name it made sense. Have any of you ever actually seen the show? Outside of the political/religious agenda and propaganda is the performance any good?

I've heard from friends who went to the ones here in Chicago, regardless of the Falun Gong psycho cult s***, it's basically a glorified and much worse Cirque du Soleil. It doesn't even have actual traditional Chinese dances.
