ill post it here before discord just to make sure we don't immediately dismiss this as 'YouTuber content which is all trash' (I dont disagree). long s*** alert

(start at 3:34 to get into what im about to discuss)
idk who watches FD Signifier (we discussed him itt earlier) but I want to bring yalls attention to an argument that he puts forth in this video. tldr he claims that radicalization of men (sic!) and their attraction to misogynistic content happens because people getting attracted to it are already in some way hateful and express these tendencies prior to engaging with said content, even if they don't outright display these behaviors* so my question is:
isnt it an absolutely non-materialistic argument that should be criticized as soon as it goes out the mouth of a left-wing commentator? how much credence can we give someone who wants to bring up a study possibly developed without focus on the material basis of this phenomenon and use it as a distraction from the fact that all algorithms absolutely prioritize polemical and emotionally charged content simply for its brevity and ability to feed into previously established patterns of consumption (so-called 'dick carped burned on content')? do you think there are factors at play that I might not know but which can reinforce FD's argument? am I confusing something here without obvious explanation of 'he implies that material stuff is important but wants to talk about something else'?
idk if you got time to watch a 20-minute video just to respond to me so in case you dont I guess you could simply respond to what im describing above. I can clarify where necessary and once again want to escape 'middle-ground arguments' and see if there's a more definitive response to that particular claim (it states: origins of radicalization are preset in people because they either were preconditioned (possibly on material basis) or, to wit, 'thats who they are to begin with')
*as I was rewatching the video I figured that his argument might be that because of material conditions (patriarchy, class, and algorithms) people can become predisposed, however, their radicalization does not start at the moment they engage with endless providers of content. and that is what FD confidently puts forth in the key part of the video. this part is my possible interpretation as I only rewatched a part of this video

@krishna_bound wanna know what you in particular think on that bc well your reputation precedes you. but I want as many ppl as possible to chime in
two more notes:
1) that part about studies elevating blame off of Facebook for radicalizing people straight up sound like damage control by fb at best and some fed s*** at worst
2) FD's appearance on a podcast with a bunch of so-called marxists was wasted bc they didnt even try to ask him about marxism and his familiarity with it. its random but something that I wanted to mention too this is just me venting at this point lol
