Unrelated but kinda related story time

Went to my home country over the summer and had an interesting encounter with a Chinese immigrant. Was walking outside the bakery when I saw a young Asian guy leaning on a truck with some chinese writing. I was surprised cuz its really rare to see non-africans people here (except turks but thats another story), but I'd especially never seen an east Asian. So I guess he caught me staring him and waved so I went up to him and greeted him and said i apologize for staring but id never seen an asian here before. Anyways I ask him whats he doing here n he tells me his chauffeur is picking up bread. So im like nah what brought you to THIS COUNTRY (looking back i mightve come off as "wtf is this f***ing immigrant doing in muh country 🤬" LMAO) and he's like ooooh I came here for work. Dude starts yapping to me his whole life story which i mostly forgot but the gist is he was an OK student, went to uni got a lib arts degree, couldn't find a good job in China so he came here. So I'm like wow that's very surprising I didn't think of this country as one foreigners would come to for jobs! And he's like oh yeah there's a lot of opportunities here because there's a lot of companies but they have trouble hiring cuz Chinese people don't want to come to Africa, but u can make a lot more here than China. Work culture in China is also crazy, whereas over here s*** is much more relaxed. I ask him if he misses China and he's like "man i miss it so much i have been here for 3 years and I want to stay for 2 more" So I ask him if he he has any future plans with those savings and he's like "yeah i want to get into real estate, thats where the real money is" and hes goes on a bit of a sigma male grindset tangent 😭. At this point we've been talking for like half an hour and he says he's gotta get going so we part ways. Didn't ask him anything political as I already felt I mightve been a bit invasive. What struck me is how familiar a lot of the s*** he was saying bout graduating and struggling to get a good job is. I guess BELT & ROAD is kinda of an exhaust valve for guys like him. Bro was getting chauffeured around in a lexus too, he got a bougier lifestyle abroad even if it's third world. As a canadian the s*** about getting into real estate and becoming his own boss also gave me some flashbacks about those kinda co-workers who swear they're gonna flip their minimum wage paycheck to buy a condo downtown and never work again but I guess as a suit in some chinese tech company it's much more plausible. He seemed like a chill guy, Im rooting for him 🙏🏾 inshaalah in 2 years he will own like 40 properties in Guangzhou and succesfully lobby the municipality to relax eviction regulations.
