This is a lie. The soviets fought off the Nazis for years before anyone else did anything substantial. Any objective view would be the soviets won the war.
That’s a level of ontological difference that no online discussion will bridge so i’m out to do something productive
"I'm reading an anticommunist rag book and surprised I see anticommunism"
Try actually reading what Lenin and Stalin advocated for
i mean even Stalin and Lenin didn’t up doing everything they advocated for u should read more than the people themselves no reason to treat these men’s texts as holy works
I'm not doing it in bad faith, I'm doing it so that I can learn more from yall tbh
You can learn more by reading State and Revolution or The communist manifesto then debating anyone here
what happened during the 10 years before MR pact with the ussr trying to ally with france and britain against the nazi but both kept rejecting em and trying to isolate em against the nazi lol
millions must read
I feel like there must be more than one reason not to a ally with an authoritarian nation but that does loo interesting
i mean even Stalin and Lenin didn’t up doing everything they advocated for u should read more than the people themselves no reason to treat these men’s texts as holy works
One thing i don’t understand is, won’t the writings of every political leader serve to just validate them and their decisions? why are they different?
Get further reading the Robert Service biographies Imo

You literally are arguing with yourself, I didn't say any of that
Ok well I'm not an expert at debating I just know that what America was doing was beside the point. I'm not even American.
I try to stay away from whataboutism because its so easy to jump to that, being that say the US and UK and a lot of these western countries have been horrible pretty much the whole time,
It feels like sometimes the socialist countries get an imbalanced assessment as it relates back to the nature of the other major countries at any given time
That being said, each nation in itself I do think should have a responsibility to not be horrible so its not like two wrongs make a right if USA was doing bad s*** and USSR was doing wack s*** at the same time,
thats just what was going on.
There are a lot of social developments the USSR made long before the US did as well as space tech, and especially coming from pre-revolution time period that would've been unthinkable back then
Nasty s*** was going down everywhere, can't run away from it

Considering people call Stalin and Lenin dictators without whatsoever understanding what they advocated for that summation doesn't make sense
Dont call your book trash stand 10 toes!!!
It's a fascinating read jam packed with sources you can follow up on
I'm not doing it in bad faith, I'm doing it so that I can learn more from yall tbh
I'm not referring to u but rather certain authors and speakers, 'intellectuals' etc

I highly recommend listening to some of stalin's interviews explaining the soviets perspective. I can link them if you want
I feel like there must be more than one reason not to a ally with an authoritarian nation but that does loo interesting
I mean they did prefer Nazis to Soviets most of the time theres no lie there

Dat epic gamer moment when after the horrors of ww2 Patton wants to keep the war going in order to fight the soviets
I feel like there must be more than one reason not to a ally with an authoritarian nation but that does loo interesting
at end of the day especially with Stalin, cynical geopolitics reigns over everything and considering western relations with the ussr moment from the ussr birth were always negative until the nazi conquests and with western colonization they weren’t different in “authoritarianism” to their colonial population from anyone else.
if u want to look for influences beyond the Nazi, in lenin era he tried to make german-soviet alliances in order to trample the treaty of Versailles as well. The western imperalist powers (britain) were seen as the main enemy since the revolution after all didn’t Churchill say to straggle the bolshevik baby in its crib
also the defeat of the Nazis was the result of British intelligence, American technology and Soviet manpower
Remove any one of the three and a decisive like the one we got is substantially less likely
doomed once Turing cracked the code and they failed to size Baku oil fields

What do you think England was doing between 1939 and 1941?

I dont resort to whataboutism if it's not called for but using a long-since gone country as some sort of scapegoat for every bad political thing just shows me the level of discussion to be had here. there are more patient people willing to engage and reeducate, and im just not among them
I done tried pointing to books and quotations for it to fall on deaf ears, god bless yall for engaging with though
What do you think England was doing between 1939 and 1941?
Nothing substantial. It doesn't really need to be argued that the soviets won the war
Nothing substantial. It doesn't really need to be argued that the soviets won the war
They were the only ones stopping the Nazis from taking over Europe
What do you think England was doing between 1939 and 1941?
drinking itself to death realizing it should have taken the soviets offer to crush the nazi earlier
its also a very internet thing to pull up some 1935 legislatures when someone speaks of the achievements of socialism. if I try to even peep about not-so-great situation in my friends countries it gets shut down in an instant because being proud of the totality doesn't mean agreeing with the particulars and bringing this up just makes you look super weird

They weren't talking about the achievements of socialism, they were saying how special the USSR was special. It is a bit random to bring up legislation from 1935 but that was the chapter I just read in my book
