you just quoted the definition I gave. but yes NGOs are an instrument of imperialism, communists have been arguing this since the 1980s and the rise of USAID, the World Bank, and the IMF.

They can be, not every NGO is by definition a tool of imperialism. A non-profit boosting literacy in Malawi is very different than one lobbying to decrease domestic farm subsidies.

You can theoretically be sanctioned for any number of things BTW. The EU's work with Frontex could send a lot of people to the Hague but I wouldn't say the enshrinement of uuuuh refugee rights in international law is some imperialist ploy.

One of my professors was going on and on about communist repression in China so I was pleasantly surprised when they used the word genocide to describe what Israel is doing in Gaza. So accustomed to these white supremacist part-time liberals I forgot there are people who earnestly believe the whole "universal liberal values" thing.

On a similar note, how do you tackle this on loved ones? People you deeply care for who have very reactionary politics. I’m struggling with someone I care about and it seems I can’t get through to them and I hate to let go of them eventually cause they mean too much to me

my experience with multiple instances of that -- its over, just hang it up and enjoy the good aspects of your relationship. unless you live with that person in which case idk how much you'll be able to withstand. very few people in my life have politics that I can even mostly agree with, just gotta thug it out

I have a friend who gets his politics from rogan type podcasts and besides telling him hes stupid for also blaming hamas for Israel's genocide I never seriously engage with any of his opinions. "trans women are just men who play dress-up" hm could be. Move on. It doesn't matter.

People don't need to agree with you on everything. Communism isn't about everyone agreeing with your opinions about gender and sex. If it's not just about opinions and they start directly insulting people you are close with you have to check them. No one respects someone who let's you insult his friends.

I think it's sad that lgbtq people are being used as Canon fodder for capitalists. People just see the capitalists who exploit them waving rainbow flags. Then it's just comfortable talking s*** about the weirdos.

I somewhat disagree with this cause I truly believe that your politics and what you value says a lot about me too. For instance, if I have a friend who has shaky opinions on rape culture and what not it also somewhat means that I do too because I'm willing to excuse him shakiness. The minute we start debating on whether certain people have the right to exist that's crazyyyy I'm sorry but how can I have you around as a friend/family member?

I think what I'm trying to say is some things should never be debated on and if that's the case then that's definitely a cause for concern

I've accepted that with some people like my parents etc. but some relationships I feel have so much potential for love and growth but are hindered because of so-and-so's problematic politics.

I can't share some details about my own personal life (like the fact I'm bisexual) because they have very negative views on the LGTBQ+ community.

Yea, it was never really some personal differences like favourite drinks or w/e but more about peoples lives and s***. Like, how can I forgive something like that? it's put a big hole in our relationship because we'd argue about it very often and I can almost no longer tolerate her behaviour. I've even told her that I see her being completely removed from my life in the near future and it scares me. Am I wrong for wanting better for the BOTH of us? this hurts so much cause it feels like I'm being unreasonable. She often times tells me to just ignore the poltiics and "be happy" and its like ??? you do it by making them aware of their class position and how that informs their backward ideology. but beyond that their's nothing else you can do, its not always guaranteed to work and you can't "debate" reactionary views out of people. its actually fine to keep those people at a distance if you can't find the common ground, you dont have to be close with people just because they're related to you.

A lot of those organizations who on paper do "good things" are in bed with the same organizations creating those problems or others. The devil is in the details a lot of times tho and u wont find out unless you start working there or some investigative journalist went crayz on em

The main message to the west that I got from Putin was not that confrontational. More like "look, America is not the dominant force it used to be. Its military and economic dominance is challenged by us and China. Sooner or later you will have to accept the end of unipolarity whether you like it or not, so why not just negotiate with us?"
