I've been having to consider how a lot of how the West critically views figures like him is heavily influenced by their fight against Western imperialism/neocolonial structures.

If they were 'fighting against communism' which is this dumb narrative that took up way too much of the 20th century

There are certain stances he took later in life as well that I respect but a lot of people more familiar with him feel like it's too little too late, plus I've never lived in Libya or the general region I couldn't really tell you other than s*** I read
