Wolff ain’t bad. economic updates are nice. Also think he’s got some nice entry level material on the basics of marxism which is useful.

Sure u can debate how effective prioritizing worker co-ops is and some of the lines he takes but class consciousness needs all the f***ing help it can get and i don’t see richard wolff as a net negative at all

teaching people incorrect "entry level" ideas is actually counterproductive because now you have to get them to unlearn these wrong ideas later down the road.

communism is fine, class consciousness isn't something created by academics. we aren't so desperate that we have to settle for "market socialist" hacks.

At the end of the day i’ve found some of his content useful that’s not even necessarily pushing for market socialism every second of every clip or s*** like that, I don’t think all of his material is the “incorrect” ideas but it’s fair to criticize him on that basis, and he does promote worker co-ops and all that s*** which i don’t necessarily care much about one way or the other, other than very vague curiosity about the way it functions

I also do think the “redefining” marxism s*** is a little weird, and i hope i didn’t put him on a pedestal or anything like that, because as i did say: there’s obviously better material out there. I just disagree that dudes a moron.

I’m still learning about current day marxists and where they fit in the grand scheme of thought and i think they can bring up good discussion points even if other points do need to be addressed as incorrect

That being said do u have any basic points about market socialism being a misstep because i could guess for myself but i’d rather hear your perspective or main take on it

Rosa Luxemburg wrote the great refutation of "market socialism" in her response to Bernstein in Reform or Revolution which became the basis for Lenin's critique of Menshevism. But really you can go back as far as Marx himself & his critique of Proudhon. He fully understood that the market couldn't be controlled and that market relations formed the nucleus of bourgeois ideology.
