I'm opposed to chauvinistic and reactionary forms of class politics (e.g. the ACP), not class in general. Class overall i think is the overarching issue when we use broad strokes
but if you're unable to talk about race sex/gender/religion in the midst of that especially with history of colonization/slavery that was specifically race-based, enslaved/colonized labor used to build up capitalism, or how men and women's places have differed in class society, and often still do,
and so on and so on
I think if you're unable to discuss the very relevant nature of these issues you are a bad marxist/communist/left winger whatever u choose to label urself

Somewhat fascinating read reiterating how horrible and predatory the RCI is. The fact that some people associate Marxism with these clowns due to their relatively large presence on university campuses makes me sad. I also see these cringe motherfuckers "campaigning" at local events and stuff, they try to approach me so I yell "Stalin did nothing wrong" and walk away.
The financial exploitation, the unchecked power that the leadership has over the rank-and-file, the lack of democracy, the firm discouragement of all disagreement, the public shaming, the abuse of power by the leaders and the lack of consequences when they do so, the sexual abuse and harassment and the way that the leaders respond to it... The RCI snatches up young, radicalizing workers, then chews them up and spits them out. You waste their time. You exploit them financially. When they finally leave, at best, you make them hesitant to trust a Marxist group ever again, and at worst, you traumatize them (or justify and protect another member who traumatizes them), and they drop out of politics for the rest of their life. You are not in a revolutionary party, but a vicious barrier to the formation of a real revolutionary party. You might think you have good intentions, but your actions cause nothing but harm. You are pathetic, and I will never stop hating you

Yeah I been seeing this term grossly misapplied much more frequently lately, not sure why. I know the publication of a couple recent books on the topic may have generated more discourse around it, but if you read those books you’d know that those authors are not merely using the term Western Marxism to mean “Marxism in the west”
It is admittedly not a particularly consistent school of thought but obviously it’s a broad yet particular tradition that has a lot of clearly shared ideological touchstones, and that tradition often has very little in common with the problems people are attempting to identify when using the term “western Marxism” in this context
Really does a disservice to properly identifying the real problems as well as a needed critique of Western Marxism as such

I’m aware that the article and book are not critiquing the same thing. What reminded me of Losurdo’s book was thinking more generally about the effects of De-Stalinization in the west
