All politics aside, when you really talk to someone from the Yugoslav era like the hard working people, the socialism era, they all lived very nice, could afford a vacation, travel places and salary was booming

The "boomers" of that era with for that socialism to be back

Stalin sent assassin after assassin after Tito, who thwarted all attempts on his life. Tito eventually wrote a letter to Stalin that was pretty damn badass:
“Stop sending people to kill me. We’ve already captured five of them, one of them with a bomb and another with a rifle. … If you don’t stop sending killers, I’ll send one to Moscow, and I won’t have to send a second.”
Stalin, presumably awed by the total lack of s***s on display, backed off and contented himself with terrorising so-called “Titoists” in the USSR.

tbh I'll never understand why LARPing tankies always gravitate towards Stalin when Tito was far cooler.

I'm not even one to give a pass for dictators, but every time I've visited Albania or Macedonia, everyone always talks about him in a positive light.

prob due to Market Socialism which many communists don't really like Tito and Yugoslavia is due to Market Socialism, which the line of thinking goes since market mechanisms still exist, which will lead to capitalism reappearing or never disappearing. Also the whole IMF loans business and stuff, not allying with the USSR, and also the camps Yugoslavia had for ML.

These are all legitimate criticisms of Tito's leadership from a communist lens.

I was more so poking fun at "hardline" tankies who worship and idealize historical leftist dictators, but will easily slide into defending capitalist behaviors from certain modern countries.

oh u talking about flag twitter type, prob due to Tito being a more obscure leftist icon despite how cool he seems to be, Stalin also well I guess appearing cool, those jail pics 🤤 is way more mainstream and is the icon of evil communists so to a more broader audience its more edgy to double down on defending Stalin while Tito most people are gonna be like who.
