Eh the dengism I can deal with, they give some healthy criticism at times

But r/communism had ppl defending Kampuchea and The Shining Path

I love how everyone will claim just about anything is propoganda but insane stories about the PCP are considered factual

The Peruvian military would go around dressed as PCP (Shining Path) members and murder civilians then attribute those deaths to the Shining Path. The CIA supported and encouraged this.

Much of the rumors like “Gonzalo boiling babies” come from British writer Simon Strong s who said he had access to confidential “police records“ and had first-hand experience with the PCP. No one questions his contacts with SIN or the British foreign service, however, his alleged contacts with the PCP were just coffee talks he had in Europe with the Javier Esparza and the twins LAB and AO. Esparza is a mercenary who got buried when he tried to sneak on the genocidal Fujimori’s “peace agreement,“ and the other two with Strong’s support collapsed, while dreaming about becoming leaders of a purported “world commission of opportunism.“ None of them have anything to do with the PCP.

Much of the claims about the PCP murdering civilians were them executing ronderos which were militias of peasants that the Peruvian government and CIA paid to fight against the PCP. There is no evidence of any organization of peasants opposing the People's War other than those controlled by the military and Peruvian government.

“The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in Peru is usually cited as an example of how capture–recapture methods can help improve our understanding of mass violence from incomplete observed data. Using 25,000 documented death records, the TRC estimated a total of 69,000 killings, and that the Shining Path was the main perpetrator, in contrast with the raw data where the Peruvian State appears to be responsible for the most killings. One feature not often noticed is that the TRC applied an unusual indirect procedure, combining data on different perpetrators and lumping together missing perpetrator data in one group. I show that direct estimations with strict stratification by perpetrator and accounting for missing data do not support the results of the TRC’s indirect approach. I estimate a total of 48,000 killings, substantially lower than the TRC estimate, and the Peruvian State accounts for a significantly larger share than the Shining Path. Rather than an example of correcting biases in the observed data through capture–recapture methods, the TRC actually introduced further distortion.”

Omg the acceleration idea is absolutely insane idk if I could identify with that but I wouldn’t completely cast aside the reconstruction aspect of it but it feels super nihilistic in nature. Also I might really be rushing the process of something that really takes sitting down and a***yzing I think it def stems from some type of exclusion insecurity that you hinted at. Reason why I jump straight towards the video aspect of it is because they seemed be able to condense some of the subject so I figured I might as well go on a spree of watching the videos but as I watch some of them I’m more lost with some of the vocab they use and it makes me feel unintelligent

    It is nihilistic

its cause unfortunately the PCP lost, if the Vietnam communist lost as well (thank god they didnt) you would hear endlessly about the Hue Massacre. It's a revolution unfortunately mistakes will be made and those mistakes will have grave consequences.

these things deserved to be talked about, regardless of a win or loss

    it's not a team sport

i don't have much sympathy for the Shining Path because their guy admitted to it and boasted about it as a means to an end.

The means and ends of actions will always be intertwined

The Vietnamese state won't talk about their history with indigenous people for a reason.

i do agree they need to be talked about rather than just dismissed and say mistakes happen these actions deserve to be criticized, and learnt from so we can avoid making those mistakes as well. My og post was meant to be from Marxist Leninist who love to bash to just bash the PCP without any further investigation and just ignore the steps i mentioned before.

Esperanto community has a bunch of communists and socialists

It would be better if everybody talked in a neutral language in international settings than forcing people to learn English for hundreds of hours while Americans dont even need to do that

Not to mention it would remove the colonial influence on the world and would remove Anglo privileges

Being 100% proficient and fluent in Esperanto takes 100h, incredibly fast

I learned it for a week and it was super fun and easy

Also a bunch of Esperanto learners in China and South America

About 4 million people know it worldwide

    Super friendly and internationalist vibes

Esperanto is very cool, but I've always seen a few problems with it:

    1. It's heavily based in Latin, meaning that it takes quite a bit longer for non-Romance and non-European speakers to understand it.

    2. How the f*** are we going to internationalize it when the speaker count is so low? You mentioned a few numbers, but compared to English, Spanish, and Mandarin, it's completely dwarfed. There's a handful of true native speakers, but very little incentive for people to learn it right now.

That's kinda the problem with building a lingua franca instead of basing it around an already naturally populated set of languages.

It's not based on Latin per se but several indo european languages

It actually shares some similarities with Chinese oddly enough

It is still vastly quicker to learn than full languages even for those who dont speak Indo-European languages due to its logic

It won't be super popular until an influential state pushes it. China promotes it a lot. My suspicion is they want to see if they can spread Mandarin well, if not Esperanto might be sort of a back-up plan. They sponsor magazines and radio and books in it.

Mandarin has nowhere near the potential to be in international language

    So hard to learn

I know some but unless they go full pinyin it wont ever be adopted as a world language

Which is the reason why i think china doesnt mind paying for the esperanto services they have....backup plan. First goal is to see how mandarin spreads in africa.
