I been talking with my friend about socialism a lot, he accepts the labor theory of value, hates the (haute) bourgeoisie to an extent, praises Castro...but then he goes apeshit when I suggest planned economies can work. Like market ideology is super deep. Even Dengists think there is no alternative to a market

Living in NYC around so many who grew up in that mid70s time period, I’ve found this documentary to be a useful reference for helping those older than me understand what was happening to NYC financially during that time beyond the typical “crime went up” take

I always saw Capitalism more particularly Neoliberalism as this lovecraftian horror that must absorb everything in its path, leaving nothing untouched what was that Marx quote again. I guess due to Neoliberalism being essentially the absolute crushing of labour and triumph of capital compared to other forms of Capitalism, like social democracies.

This documentary basically shows my vision of neoliberalism perfectly or maybe all the dead bodies are getting to me now. And now blackrock is mentioned I know theres unfortunately more to come of that.
