on a side note anybody have any good reading on mugabe

i understand that he was important in liberation from rhodesia and then f***ed the land reform and nationalization policies leading to a bourgeois revolution.

seems like a very complicated situation beyond that.

article written by a black zimbabwean i found africasacountry.com/2017/11/mugabe-was-no-revolutionary-he-was-obsessed-with-power-and-control

The State is an institution that organises the defence of the country, organises the maintenance of "order"; it is an apparatus for collecting taxes. The capitalist State does not deal much with economy in the strict sense of the word; the latter is not in the hands of the State. On the contrary, the State is in the hands of capitalist economy. That is why I fear that in spite of all his energies and abilities, Roosevelt will not achieve the goal you mention, if indeed that is his goal. Perhaps, in the course of several generations it will be possible to approach this goal somewhat; but I personally think that even this is not very probable.

    we're still waiting...

What makes a country an empire? I can't think of a definition where annexing territory or having puppet states is not sufficient

The method of capital extraction and subjugation

The Russian SFSR wasn’t extracting Lithuanian value to inject into their own economy in the same manner the British were doing in india, or the French were doing in Algeria, or the Americans were doing across Latin America

The Baltic ASSRS had plenty of autonomy but as with any state structure they had to answer to the Supreme Soviet in Moscow, which was explicitly not Russian. It wasn’t a part of the Russian SFSR it was a seperate structure

The USSR wasn’t an empire if “subjugated” ethnicities like the Ukrainians and Georgians had seperate and independent national identities and weren’t Russified and even had leaders in the supposed structure of Russian supremacy (Khrushchev and Stalin)

Like yes Russia SFSR played a primary role in the USSR because they were the largest and most populous but that doesn’t mean they engaged in forms of capital extraction and exploitation

Wouldn't forced labour in those countries qualify as capital extraction though?

Wouldn't forced labour in those countries qualify as capital extraction though?

No because the Russian SFSR didn't appropriate the surplus value that the labor in other republics created and use it for unequal development.

he is jealous of our way of life and wants to annihilate it because we are shining too hard. Simply put, Putin is a hater.
