american cold war propaganda has been ingrained so deeply that we can no longer have an honest conversation about socialism, as the term has been so warped
its insane that i'd be more shunned from my family if they found me with the communist manifesto than if they found me with any hard d***
Can someone CONFIRM the s*** about bernies tax plan? I’ve heard THREE people today say he’s gonna tax 52% of people’s incomes who make $29k a year. And I didn’t even bring him up, they just talkin bout it.

nobody making under 250k a year is getting an income tax increase under the bernie plan besides the 4% medicare premium which doesnt apply to families making under 29k

If you like the system in the Nordic countries, then you should be a social democrat. But if you do end up choosing socialism, please consider being a market socialist in the vein of Yugoslavia

Yeah morally I feel like Socialism is the best form of an economy but I’m not sure if you could ever get Americans onboard with it after years of capitalism and greed.

To be fair, economic planning has been less effective compared to letting market factors decide how much to produce. The world should certainly be less unequal than it is currently but it is important that people have the right to create products with a certain level of freedom
people dont understand it because they hear buzz words such a ussr, north korea and Venezuela
but then they don't realise that all of developed world have socialist policies which we all take for granted
stuff like free education, health care, roads etc are all socialist policies which work in Australia idk why it wouldnt work in the USA. I dont pay hundreds of dollars to buy scripts when i am sick its 10 to 20 dollars i couldnt imagine someone having diabetes in USA and paying 500 dollars a month to stay alive

Even if you're satisfied with the social wage that comes with social democracy, I'd say that one of the more compelling arguments against social democracy is that all of the gains of social democracy can be taken away from workers without any (counter)revolutionary political change. Just look at the US, Europe used to have more income inequality than America just a couple of decades ago, and it didn't take an overthrow of the political system that had led to the social democratic programs in the first place to reverse that.

I want to do more research about them but I'm entirely sure that it's not like what the media makes 'em look like
