I will admit there were excesses in the cultural revolution just like any conflict. However, it was needed and didn't go far enough see Deng + other revisionists.

Unlike the term "massacre" would suggest. The Guangxi massacre was something that occurred over nearly a decade and it was the result of fighting between red guards and a revisionist faction.
