Just found out about Marxist Criminology

How can transpiring events be used to bring people to class consciousness and socialist movements while also factoring in the realities of propaganda?

do you mean on an individual level or on like a macro-level

I feel like the first one is more important considering where the US is at right now

on an individual level (like to family members or friends or something), i'd say don't explicitly focus on or obsess over it needing to be textually marxist (like hey guys actually did you know marxism says whatever and that's why you should listen).
Instead, just discuss the topics from that lens in terms of how it would relate to that. just jumping into it with talking about socialist evangelism is going to always turn people away (in the US). By comparison, if you focus on the takeaways from those movements or ideas in a vacuum, people are usually way more receptive specifically because most people actually do have no idea what socialism/etc is outside of the buzzwords.

I would also say at the same time, don't obsess with trying to get people to dispel takes which might seem reactionary. Like if someone is angry that the media airbrushed a mugshot to make someone seem more white , I don't think it's worth it to spend time arguing on that. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think people who say this stuff or whatever are immediatedly just to be considered lumpenproles or something. Being willing to talk to people like this about these topics you want to spread awareness of even in light of them being mad about culture war stuff is far more likely to make them willing to affirm a movement (and thus maybe shed some of their more reactionary beliefs over time) than trying to get them to be convinced what they're saying isn't important at all first.

yea i totally agree with the idea of making people revolutionary subjects first through whatever contradictions inhabit them, THEN try to rinse out the reactionary garbage

mass line is extremely important imo and using social charisma to utilize mass line is probably underexplored in its importance.

ive got a question for yall tho, from your practical experience is it better to try to peel off just one layer of reaction or try to convince people of more than just issues in isolation?
i've had experience in both, but explaining to people why north korea needs to be supported is a whole lot f***ing harder than why sanctions suck.

obviously you want to meet people where they're at, but you also want to try to advance consciousness and i find it's a soft line to navigate
