what’s the point of antagonizing him who cares if you two had some stupid nft debate on another thread, no reason to be hostile here

Because an unironic cryptobro is too far gone into ideology and discussing s*** with him is an utter waste of time for everyone involved

The implication is that fiat currency is the root of all evil and that somehow another currency means capitalism can be reformed

Hard to shake off a belief when your life savings are in utopia monkey coins and you're that deep in the game

Once crypto fails he will proceed to blame central banking et cetera for it

i agree with u on crypto but we all have some liberalism in us that needs to be purged and would be unrealistic to expect anyone to be perfectly marxist.

yea but if they are a republican you can turn them on to class consciousness first thru the anticolonial interest which gives them an incentive to reject the crypto brainworms

cuz obviously struggling over the crypto s*** will never allow them to resolve that contradiction before the collapse of capitalism

dont even care about them but ik ur smart and principled - and its fun to dunk on people - but you should know when to take the opportunities too when they present themselves

The cryptoguys on here are the most libertarian users with the worst opinions, the thing is that a lot of people that should rationally understand class consciousness et cetera have such intense ideological blindspots that rational debate won't ever reach them and thus is a waste of time, the better course is to ridicule their ideas because shaming is a powerful societal tool

I dealt with a friend like this for years, and I always thought he would wise up a bit, but it was always one step forward and two steps back with him. After all the Debord, Marx, Foucault stuff he read, the guy just ended up LARPing as a classical liberal in the end and voted for the conservative party because somebody's uncle was in the party and donated to charity after a flood lmao

He had zero contradictions from his point of view, he would say bankers need to be hanged for 2008 and then had a mental breakdown when I suggested economic planning can work better than markets, he would say we need a revolution and then continue to vote for Merkel's party, in his mind all those things could be reconciled with one another

I reject the idea that we have to be civil to everyone, some ideas just need to be dunked on and shamed, that's probably a bigger incentive for the outside viewer to think about stuff than any civil discussion would be

The thing is they got these countries so by the balls that they can extract their wealth without even having to give them the benefits of EU subsidies et cetera

i agree most crypto bros are but if one comes into the socialism thread to post a James Connolly quote he’s the exception not the rule

and yeah i agree that we don’t need to be civil to everyone but again in this scenario i don’t think that applies

    ur irish ?

what’s ur thoughts on these guys if u have any
    https://twitter.com/aiaireland?s=21&t=fIHAFUSuj3qhj2OSW3F0fQ

i havent heard of these guys but from looking at their twitter they have given a shoutout to Saoradh, who are the political wing of the new IRA, so thats not good.

anything affiliated with any kind of IRA whether it be Real / New / Provo from the Troubles onwards is bad news. they are effectively gangs and support for them is extremely limited in Ireland.

Saoradh for example organised a pretty foul march after the murder of Lyra Mckee that was widely condemned. these kind of scenes are just straight up regressive. i would prefer to see an end to them and the likes of the Orange Order trying to take the country back into a darker time.

i am a republican and want a United Ireland. i voted People before Profit #1 and despite being anti-IRA i gave Sinn Fein my #2. i just hate the neolibs more but i do have reservations about SF and their connections to the IRA and Saoradh-type groups. i also hope they dont force the issue of United Ireland before the time is right and actually deliver on their promises cause their time in government seems guaranteed at this point. time will tell on whether or not theyve just been using populism i guess.

    bit of a ramble sorry.

on crypto since there was a few posts about it when i was typing my last one up: i dont understand how just investing in crypto (or indeed anything else) makes you a liberal or a hypocrite.

im risking my money to try and make some more. if it all vanished in the morning i would not care. i am gambling away my own money and im not on twitter trying to shill some random bullshit that i know has no value in bad faith. i have an interest in the technology but if you took away the potential to make money i would not be interested whatsoever. the exact same is true for my stocks lol.

i understand that theres a lot of that s*** and scamming so i can understand how people could be sick of ‘cryptobros’ and treat them all as if they’re a monolith.

there’s no problem with is that the ideological aspect of it thst we have a problem with, if it’s just to make money well no one here cares we can understand that.
