i'm a bit weirded out by how quickly the media has wiped the profile of the recent shooter from the internet. there's still stuff floating around from most other shooters over the past few years. they literally actively are censoring google results related to this guy (posted in the shooting thread in life sxn as proof), and already have wiped his twitter, youtube channel, etc. what's going on here? nothing from his profile was that weird or egregious esp not vs past shooters or people like Lanza. is someone in his family a politician or something?

Another Elliot Rodger fact: He got thrown off a balcony and his legs broken at a party after he had insulted a group of girls for not talking to him and tried to push them off the balcony. Instead, their boyfriends arrived and pushed him off.

On or about July 20, 2013, Rodger went to a party in Isla Vista in an intoxicated state. He became angry at a group of girls he believed was ignoring him, and tried to push some of them off of a ledge. A group of male students intervened, and pushed Rodger off the ledge, breaking his ankle. As he was stumbling away from the party, Rodger realized he lost his Gucci sunglasses during the altercation. The suspect turned around so he could go back to the party and retrieve his sunglasses. Due to his level of alcohol intoxication, the suspect mistakenly went to the wrong house and demanded his sunglasses be returned to him. The occupants of this house called Rodger names and began kicking and punching him. Rodger eventually left this house and fled the area. Rodger returned home, bruised, disheveled, and crying and told a neighbor at the Capri Apartments “I’m gonna kill all those motherf***kers and kill myself.”

that's all pretty low level though. it's not like big social media conglomerates care that someone owned a small business or something. like if that was the case everything about elliott rodger would be wiped from the internet since his parents were actually relatively higher up in the social-corporate ladder. this is just weird even by mass shooting reaction standards.

Elliot was doomed from the beginning. Therapy can only do so much, it can't change an environment. While it's true he doesn't inspire sympathy at all given he was an entitled narcissist with a personality disorder, if you've ever looked at the stuff from his manifesto or even just accounts from his parents, it's clear he had 0 chance from day 1. His parents were both absolutely terrible people and a lot of his entitled worldview was definitely born from neglect mixed with access to money. None of this justifies being a homicidal maniac in the same way John Wayne Gacy's insane abusive and sexually invasive childhood doesn't necessarily excuse him being a rapist serial killer, but unlike Gacy, Elliot wasn't as mentally ill, he was a lost weirdo with no purpose in life who couldn't reconcile that despite being born into ideal material conditions his actual life sucked ass in virtually every way possible.
These were prime conditions for radicalization and the reality of the social environment provided by the modern west basically means if you're in this scenario, there really is no way you can go 99% of the time except further down into a spiral like this if you've been pre-conditioned into the type of personality disorder he had from years of messed up childhood neglect. No one owes anyone social favors in terms of liking them, but it is regardless unlikely to think it would have been possible for him to find a social safety net; it would have required the current people in his life to act on his behalf, which no one in his family cared about or was capable of doing.
